re: Better player: 26 year old Scottie Pippen or 31 year old DWADE

You leave out that Pippens 31 season is when the bulls won 72 games. Now correct me if I'm wrong, a team with a lot if wins will naturally create a higher win share
So Pippen's prime coincided with the greatest team of All Time? Color me shocked. Also, he racked up Defensive Win Shares (throughout his career)like candy.
quote:
They may be equal per 100 possessions, but Wade A) shoots more and B) scores at a more efficient clip, thus making it more impressive.
But Pippen creates just as much offense so "better shooter" or not Pippen does was just as effective-which is what matters,Also, in player per possessions it every time the player touches the ball-not overall team possessions-i.e. Pippen handling it 100 times vs. Wade 100 times equivalent points produced for the team.
Equivalent offensive players, but with one being the superior defender, So yes Pippen > Wade.
quote:
That stat doesn't account for the unknown fact that Pippen may or may not be able to keep up that efficiency with more shots or more touches.
Except the fact that the two metrics are not reflective of one another, one tracks touches per possession, one points per possession that is independent of touches in a single game.

Perimeter defense of those bulls teams were shared by 2 great defenders. I'm not trying to take anything away from Pippen, /quote]
you realize the identical argument can be made for Wade right?
[quote]It's no coincidence every team he played on won. That's more than Pippen can saybut Rodman was a great defender in his own right.
Rodman was also surrounded by great defenders, but the guy was psychological defender, Pippen was a long armed high IQ, physically dominant player.
ETA: I'm out this thread for now,got too real life shite to do.

Rodman was more than psychological.
Great feet, relentless energy, superb positioning.
He's an all time great defensive player

Is this in the same alternate universe where Jordan wins 8 NBA Titles as an owner?

No its the universe where the Bulls won 55 games without Jordan and with Pippen and Grant missing 22 games.

Dwayne Wade averaged more than 20 points in 9 out of 10 seasons.
Pippen averaged more than 20 points only 4 out of 17 seasons.
31-year old Wade with Swine Flu is better than 26-year old Scottie Pippen.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim averaged 20 points 5 out of 11 seasons is he better than Pippen also?

The retard level in this thread is off the charts . It's as if defense is not a factor whatsoever.

Hmmmm...do you want to check Wade's rebound/assist numbers for his career, or do you need me to do that for you?

no its not. Because the stat is predicated on hard numbers, and what they actually do in the game. Meaning Wade is still taking more shots, and still producing at a more efficient rate
you know who else has the same offensive rating as them? Brian Roberts.
It's a metric that is drawn out over 100 possessions for a reason.

Walking triple double and could dominate defensively at 4 positions.
He was a sick defender but someone who averages less than one triple double every 50 games isn't really a walking triple double.

Half this board thinks pippen would dominate lebron. You can't reason with them
