Sure, a line may have to be drawn by the administration to save its own arse. But, Im sick and tired of older LSU alumni acting like the current student body is some evil, immature, unoriginal embarrassment. Because, as we all know, LSU fans in TS up until recently have always been this beacon of welcoming, well-behaved Preacher's children.
Our reputation in that stadium as a fanbase began way before I went there. There's a reason GameDay has to put a netting behind the stage to prevent things being thrown at them. Oh wait, that was our fans years ago that threw whiskey bottles at Corso and the gang. Guess Mike Archer was joking when he said the difference between day and night games at LSU is the smell of bourbon. Yep, all the fault of the current student body.

Isn't it an obscenity regardless? So you'd be okay with a line drawn in the sand that says its acceptable for your child to hear "shite," but not "frick"? I mean, where does it stop? I just love all the older folks getting feathers ruffled about their children hearing cuss words at a game. Yet, when they were students, they didn't think twice about yelling whatever came to mind at a game regardless of who was around.

CBS executive to LSU dean: Do you like being on national tv?
LSU dean: why yes we do. It generates a ton of interest nationwide for us not to mention to money made off that interest.
CBS executive: Well tell your fans to stop shouting "suck a dick bitch" on my network to the entire nation or no more national exposure. Got it?

I personally like hearing and saying STTDB...it is part of the reason I like going to the games.
I find it both witty and funny...guess some people just don't see the humor in it.
I liked Animal House when it first came out too...nothing like a little seditious thought to get the blood flowing.

LSU Student Section:
THE GOOD: Georgia game in 2003. The students that started the LSU chant will live in LSU folklore for years and years.
THE GOOD: 1997 Florida pregame- stealing the work em silly Gators bedsheet from those tools.
THE BAD: Ruining Tiger Rag in my day as a student.
THE BAD: this stupid shite like STTDB.
I know what I would want to be remembered for. In reality, LSU could stop this in 3 weeks or less if they really needed to do so. All they have to do is send the marshalls and BRPD to the front of the student section...have the band play Neck...then round up about 50 STTDB ers...parade them up the stairs...then eject their asses. PRoblem will be solved in no time.

It wouldn't break my heart if the chant went away completely.
What really is annoying is the two or three threads created before a home game entitled, "Are We Going to Play Neck?" And the two or three threads created on a Monday after the home game entitled, "Did the Band Play Neck?"

Have been a member of TD for over 6 years, and it's obvious from my post count, that I prefer to just come here and get the latest on LSU sports....best place for that!
I was a student here from '68 to '74....the "Bert Jones vs. Archie Manning" and the "Pistol Pete" years...one of the best times to be a Tiger fan. And this old fan would like to remind some of the others that this is certainly not a new phenomena.
Witness 2 of our favorite cheers....emanating loud and often from the student section:
"Rat sh.t, cat sh.t, p.ssy smells well
Co.ksucker, motherf..ker, Tigers give 'em hell!"
"Born in the backwoods, raised by a bear
Got two sets of teeth, and three coats of hair,
Got 10 pound balls and a twelve foot rod
I'm a mean motherf..ker, I'm a Tiger, by God!"
Soooo, they may sound "old" and silly, but as a faithful, and usually quite drunk student fan, they were fun and part of the atmosphere. Give the current generation of students a break....it's nothing new, and something similar will always find it's way into the student section on gameday. It's who we are, and I for one love it!

STTDB is neither funny nor creative. It sounds like something a bunch of 14 year olds would make up. At least come up with something witty and imaginative

This. I don't care at all about the vulgarity of it. It just sounds like something a moron came up with.
I actually like the sound of the whole student section chanting something within one of the songs. Especially since it normally comes at a point in the game when the crowd is into it. I just wish they could come up with something more witty than that

Don't you know that the vulgar chants only originated recently at LSU games!?
Would love for some of the old hypocritical whiners earlier in this thread to come back and address children hearing these chants back in the day. See now why bitching about STTDB is so hypocritical? Yes, those chants from back in the day were much better, but they were in no way, shape, or form any less vulgar than STTDB.
Those chants by the way awesome

So, you're admitting the vulgarity of it has nothing to do with the complaints about STTDB then right? Just making sure.
Because it sure seems like the older, whiny fans get all ruffled up "because is embarrassing and vulgar." When in reality, they simply just think anything they did in college 30 years ago is automatically better than anything going on today. "Well, back in MY day at lsu, we...." I guarantee there were stupid, unoriginal chants then too.

I wouldn't say evil, but the rest fits. The stadium/fan base had a reputation long before now but it was because they made so much noise and made it a difficult place to play. They didn't even have to chant about sucking dicks and cocks to make the place intimidating. Imagine that.

MOT, please. Your fellow old-timers disagree with you.
Obviously it was just like that.
See, how doing something back in the day is automatically "right" years later when you see someone doing something you think you did better?

My first game at TS with my father I was puked on before the game even started. Then from two rows up a guy dropped his coke and a miracle happened a tilde wave of Chevis splashed all over the back of me. With all this there was no other place I would have rather been.
