year, Collins wont play at all even if he's on the team outside of blowouts.
Idk. Kid could improve with a year of experience. I'd love to see him and Hamnick play to their potential

I dont see any potential in Collins, if someone else does, help me see it
Hammink is a guy I think can flourish over time here. He has the tools, and he should have redshirted had we not been so hurting on depth IMO. Most every international player needs a redshirt year to adjust. Amateur basketball overseas is just so terrible, even our college teams go and beat up on their pro teams.
Collins just doesnt have good basketball I.Q., doesn't have a good shot, plays out of control 80% of the time...I just dont see what he brings to the table. It's not something like with Hammink where he just needs to catch up to the speed of the game.

Quarterman will play 2 guard, no doubt about it. He's a scorer not a freaking point guard. Dudes 6't5 or 6'6 he ain't playing the point!

He'll play both imo. He's a hybrid guard.
Hickey/Quarterman
Morgan/Stringer (this could easily be flipped)
Martin/Coleman
JOB/Mickey
Odo/Malone

I agree he will play both, because the length is nice at the 2, but he will play a lot more PG than SG. He's the only legit backup PG we have for next year behind Hickey. Stringer and Morgan can usually hold down the 2 just fine short of getting into foul trouble.
Quarterman is being brought in to backup Hickey first and foremost...and be our starting PG for the future.

Grevis Vasquez-6'5(Hornets)
Jrue Holiday-6'4(76ers)

Dont forget one any true LSU fan shouldn't forget - Garrett Temple. He played 1 and 3. At 6'6.

He wasn't even a true PG either. Quarterman actually is a legit PG

I think people only say that about Temple because he was so tall. He was pretty much a typical PG though outside of height. Couldn't shoot, so he was useless to use at the 2, always had a decent ast/TO ratio. Led team in assists 3 of his last 4 years too. He wasn't the BEST ball handler, but the best on his teams a few years. Temple was just so versatile on the defensive end. We could use him to guard other team's 1, 2, 3 even 4 at times.

You do realize that NBA teams frequently lose to EuroLeague teams, right? In 2010 FC Barcelona beat the Lakers in an exhibition match of EuroLeague champ vs NBA champ.
https://www.nba.com/games/20101007/LALBAR/gameinfo.html?ls=gt2hp0011000024
Don't get me wrong, NBA teams generally dominate these games, but Euro teams win often enough where it is no big deal when they do win. The NBA is 42-9 all-time vs. the EuroLeague.
Now what would the NBA's record be if those 51 games were against NCAA teams? Unless you say 51-0, you're probably wrong.
Bottom line: the observation about Euro teams being weak is way, way off. Don't be fooled by some of the second-tier or B club teams the touring collegians often play against. I'd say the best EuroLeague teams could make the playoffs in the NBA.

Quarterman is the perfect PG for Stringer because he allows Stringer to guard a 1 while Quarterman guards a wing. Sort of like the way Temple would guard JJ Redick while Darrel Mitchell guarded the PG.

I'm obviously not talking about the euroleague. Everyone knows about the euroleague which is a collection of the absolute best euro pro teams. What most folks dont know about is all the countries have their OWN leagues where the teams generally suck (in comparison to NBA teams, and to many college teams). You know, those teams college teams that go play over in europe for a "tour" and beat every team by 20-40 points. I'm talking about those teams. My main point though was amateur basketball overseas isnt anywhere near as tough as high school ball over here in the states. That's why you see so many international players that come over to college struggle right off the bat because they aren't used to playing guys that athletic. Now obvious high school to college in the U.S. is a big jump too, but just saying that's easier on a kid than amateur ball overseas to college basketball here.

You don't know what you are talking about.
All EuroLeague teams are the same teams that compete in their national club league. They just qualify to also compete in the EuroLeague.
Same thing nationally. Spain and Italy have a Series A league, B, C, etc. It's almost the same as our baseball system, except technically they are all interchangeable teams. The worst teams are 'relegated' to second tier status for ensuing seasons while the best teams of the second division can be promoted.
And these aren't pro teams in the same way we think of them. They are community clubs that have their own developmental youth teams and often cross a variety of sports. For example, if FC Barcelona sounds familiar, it's because it's the same club that has he soccer team (FC stands for football club).
I think it would be accurate to say that the Series A league of most top countries (Italy, Spain, Greece) would be slightly better than high-level college. If you get to a country's third tier or so, it might be comparable to D-2 or maybe low-level D-1.
You take the best from these countries and put them in the EuroLeague and the competition is better, though still not comparable as a system to ours. There are players who are not in the EuroLeague who are better than players in the EuroLeague. The EuroLeague is not designed to monopolize all the top talent the way, say, the NBA is.
One other thing. Players do struggle to adjust here, but more to style of play than anything. Over there they pass, cut and shoot more. Here, it's more about the dribble, on-ball screens and penetration.
A lot of good Amercan players who you think would do well in Europe struggle there for the same reason.
Funny, Brandon Jennings sucked in his one year out of HS plaing in Europe. The next year, he was one of the top NBA rookies. And Ricky Rubio was better last year for the T-wolves than he was in Badelona, where he was generally considered a disappointment. But he has an American-style game.

That was in Spain, so they payed FIBA rules. Euroteams have won on NBA courts before (I remember the Raptors losing back-to-back home games to Spanish teams).
Now,it won't make a huge difference. FIBA adopted the NBA (or is it the college?) lane and the 24-second shot clock. Still has the funky rule that basket interference is allowed. I'd rather they get rid of that and keep the 30-second shot clock. I'm not a fan of the 24-second lock.

When my youngest was in school a few years back our local high scool hosted an australian team a couple of times. We were pretty good program at the time. Solid playoff contender. Made top 28 three years running. Australia whipped us pretty good the first time.
Talked to our high school coach about australia a few years after playing them. Turns out three of them signed Major D1 scholarships.
