This has been going on in baseball stadiums all over the country for 150 years at all levels. The same reason golfers remove their hats shake hands at the end of a round. It's called class. While I agree the victory lap thing was a bit much for me and I would not have participated if I had been there, I don't look down on those who did.

So now I'm bitter and selfish because I won't clap when a team takes away a base hit when the game in question is still in doubt?
Ok
U sound mad, bro.

But we sure as hell didn't clap when Arkansas made a nice dunk against us when we were up by 22 in the 1st half on Wednesday.
I remember that dunk..it was a thunder dunk that would have been worthy of applause if it were at a baseball game.

Agreed.
FWIW, I've requested the admins delete this thread. You and your fellow assholes on here have hijacked it enough.

So the fans that just leave the stadium after the game without incident are classless?

How come no other team in America, both professional or college, or HS does it?
This is so wrong. I've heard applause for opponents in every major league stadium I've been to except rangers and dodgers.
ETA: even Yankee fricking stadium applauded a mike trout play.

Not quite sure this is a good comparison.
This would be more akin to the opposing teams shaking hands after the game, has nothing to do with the fans.

No and that doesn't even make sense but ok.

I agree. The fans that high fived Stoney Brook are douches.

Especially the ones who went to Omaha and then became "Stony Brook fans" for the week.
They looked even more ridiculous when Stony Brook got their arse thumped twice.

Y'all need to start your own little club called "only assholes are Real fans"; you've sure convinced the thousands of LSU fans who disagree with your cogent arguments that baseball should be just like football because, well, it just should, because we want it to be.

If you want to leave the stadium without high giving Stony Brook, fine, you have every right to. If someone else wants to stay back and congratulate them, what skin is that off your back? Why does anyone else care?
Don't you get it Grad, we're the assholes because it bothers us when we lose. We're the assholes because just walking out the stadium after the loss is as bad as throwing piss balloons at the other team. Not giving the opposing team a handjob after every great play means we don't respect them.
Or, it could mean we're fricking normal people.
People appreciate different things within the sport. Fan reactions don't need to be unanimous across the entire stadium, let people cheer for whatever they feel deserves it. The only people who are dicks in this type of conversation are the ones who say their opinion is unanimously right and everyone else is wrong/stupid/attention-seeking/insert any other derogatory adjective.
Just accept that people are fricking different and let everyone else celebrate in whatever way they wish. It really shouldn't concern anyone aside from that individual

The "only assholes are real fans" sentiments is not what we're saying. I'm not going to take the time to explain it. I'll just assume your one of the fans that high fived SB.

Shut up. Nobdoy is saying you have to be an arse hole. Just stop with the sunshine pumping just so you can hear people talk about how nice and classy LSU baseball fans are..
