That's a FAR leap you are taking. I'm male. I don't like too much shite directed towards a female audience, but I used to like Friends because it was new. HIMYM isn't new. If BBT is 2.5 Men then HIMYM is a warmed-over Friends except the womanizer is smart instead of an idiot.

This is my take as well.

BBT can be a one-trick pony, sure, but at least we haven't really seen the premise before. It's something new and there will be copycats going forward.

HIYMT is fine show, and so was Friends, but they are very, very similar.

6 twenty-something experiencing life, love, and work in their contemporary moment?

Never been done before?

The setting may be different, but BBT isn't some new premise unveiled in the 21st Century. It's a fairly simple sitcom set-up.

We had seen shows focused aroung nerds and social outcasts before BBT came on the air. But still, if you found that to be an original premise, so be it. But what it has evolved into is the same type of thing people are deriding HIMYM for being, a Friends ripoff.
