“You would think we would have due process,” he said. “But they meant to destroy the meat – that’s for sure.” The mission’s chef asked if they could at least return the meat to the processing plant – but the state officials said no. “They actually took it out to the dumpsters, split the packages open and poured Clorox on it,” Martin told Fox News.
Land of the free.
Do you remember voting on whether the govt could waltz in and destroy your perfectly good food?

Venison is illegal in LA (for restaurants)?
I dined on some pretty delicious venison at Ruths Chris a couple months ago, but I guess they didn't get the memo that this food source is unfit for homeless shelters.

The SOB that complained should not be allowed to eat any meat at the shelter ever again. Not even a Opossum

Government is pissed because they aren't getting their tax cut off of the deer meat

Take a possum and beat him with it. Wish I hadn't read the article. Now I am pissed at the needy.

That's good news Chip. I got a chance to speak with Strain last week briefly about the issues and he thought it was going to be resolved favorably. Damn shame those DHH guys did that.
The law concerning deer meat is written so wild deer couldn't be sold in restaurants. But these are donations and aren't being resold. Idiots.

“I am pleased to be able to report at this time that steps have been taken to ensure that no similar actions of destruction of similarly donated food will occur again in Louisiana, and that appropriate revision of existing policies and law which ensure food safety are under review and will occur” commented Jeff Thompson of Bossier City.
We have a few good leaders.
