Word is, UNC has received an official offer

I could see UNC staying in the ACC and adding a few schools out of SMU, Houston, Tulane, UConn, and UMass

Same thing with UVA, probablly the first choice, but if they aren't interested, VT gets you the same markets.
Clemson, GT and FSU don't bring anything in terms of new markets to the SEC so you can forget that. Duke can not bring enough extra revenue on their own, maybe take them to get UNC, but otherwise NCSU is the better option over Duke.

I really could not see UNC passing on both the B1G and SEC to remain in a new version of CUSA

Get Wake Forest then or (preferably) Texas. NC State does nothing for me. I just don't see the appeal in them.

Yeah, I think the SEC goes after VT and NCSU if this is true. Both are primarily football schools and they can get you the Charlotte and DC markets.

Please don't let us go to the BIG. I don't want to associate with any school that chants Seven Nation army. Although I do like the CIC and the added benefits academically. I think there's something to be said about academics first then athletics. BIG certainly has their priorities in line along with excellence in athletics. Many of the same characteristics as the ACC.
In my order of preference: Use this as leverage to have Notre Dame join as a full-time member (basically, if they don't join to solidify the ACC, then this is the only choice...bringing in Notre Dame swings the tables big time and should please FSU/Clemson).
- Get picked up by the SEC
- Get picked up by anyone

but you take a Wake Forest? A small private school with a small fan base?
This is not about your personal snobbery, it is about expanding the footprint of the brands. Agree or disagree with that fine, but they are not adding teams in existing markets, that defeats the purpose and they are not adding small private schools over large state schools.

VA and UNC don't want any part of the SEC.

The fanbases would love to be a part of the SEC. Now the adminstrations probably feel differently.

agree with the poster who said UNC and Duke are joined at the hip....

yep, makes sense on all levels it gives you 2 new large states, both are contiguous to the rest of the SEC.
My question is who is #16 for the B1G if they got GT, UVA and UNC? Do they go after Texas? Notre Dame is a non starter.
Posted on 2/19/13 at 2:32 pm to H-Town Tiger
ND was always my #1 on joining the B1G since before all of this started, but I can honestly say I really don't want them anymore.
It would still be good for the B1G brand if we got them, but I'd prefer they end up somewhere else.

When Notre Dame decided to join the ACC on a part-time basis Jim Delaney decided to dismantle the ACC. He'll have it done within two years.

You mean who is #18? Kansas might come into play.

They already have UMD and Rutgers joining. So these three would put them at 17. Something's gotta give.
