SKYFALL--DVD Release/ON Demand Thread (Possible Spoilers)

I'm sure lots of us will be seeing Skyfall for the first time or for the first time since it left theaters.
Let's talk about it here.
First impression is that I wish I would have seen it in the theater.
Dame Judi Dench as M--She's always been a huge bitch. "Take the shot!" "So I gave him up and got 6 agents in return."
Chick in Macau casino: Like a young, Asian Catherine Zeta-Jones (when she was at her peak)--only gorgeous-er(I know that's not a word).
I loved all of the homages to traditional Bond fare: Anonymous henchman, the DB5 with the eject button and machine guns, a shaken martini, etc.
The title sequence was the best since The World is Not Enough (which by the way was the last time there was a decent original song). Adele's "Skyfall" is sublime. I could have used more naked girls dancing in silhouette, but at least there were some.
It was almost as if they were going to wrap the franchise up with a nice bow, but then at the end, we know it's kind of a new beginning.
Like most have said, it's the best Bond I can remember in a LONG time.
I give Skyfall 4.5/5 Internets.

I have it recorded. Gonna watch Saturday night.

It was a very decent Bond movie. But I liked Craig's Casino Royale better.

I did not enjoy the " final fight " in this one as much as i did the others.
I liked it as i do all bond movies but did not live up to what i hoped it to be.

I absolutely loved it. Just picked it up on Blu-Ray today, actually.
I love all the Bond movies, though. I don't even hate QoS (even though it's the worst of the lot).

I thought that nod was a bit to much.

QoS was bad, but was it really worse than A View to a Kill or the last half of Moonraker (Moonraker was pretty damn good until the space battle and laser shite)?

Fair enough. But I love shite like that. I am holding out hope that in one movie they'll visit France and find this couple sharing a glass of wine or something with Bond :

Everything up until the final fight scene was great. Anti-climactic ending.

I was thinking about halfway through about where this one fell in to the chronology of the series. They kept referring to Bond being older, the DB5 with all the bells and whistles Connery had, etc. But the last scene, with Moneypenny and the new M felt like a brand new start. Even the coat rack where bond always throws his hat on the way in to see M.
I loved it. Felt more like a Bond movie, complete with the gun barrel shot at the end. My only issue was the lack of a true Bond girl. 4.5/5.

Just rewatched it. First time I saw it I thought it was way better than Casino Royale but Royale has a little more rewatchability.
Still like Skyfall a little more.
Best villian in a long long time maybe since Scaramanga. Fiennes will be an awesome M. Judi Dench finally got enough screen time she killed it.
The DB5 was pretty awesome and I must be the only one who liked the final scene. Kinkaid was a badass and yes that was a rifle not a shotgun I inherited one like it from my Grandfather.

Skyfall took us back to Bond's roots that QoS nearly bleached beyond recognition. I loved it and agree with your post. Saw it in theaters and can't wait to see it again on BluRay.

Great movie but the final fight left a lot to be desired IMO. However, the final scene is badass for those of us who are diehard Bond fans.

agree. Watched it last night. They really didn't give the casino chick much screen time, but they mixed in Money Penny too so I guess that took away from the Bond girls.
I thought it was a good movie.
Spoiler.....
The only small problem I have is the beginning. They really never explain how he gets out of the river after being shot. Bugged me for some reason.

I may be in the minority, but the whole thing was pretty meh to me.
Not enough Bardem, for one.

What do you think happened?

The movie did, however, have a few glitches. For example, after going in the drink from the bridge he is apparently rescued by a chick which we are never introduced to or see again in the plot, or am I wrong? Are we to believe that Silva did such detailed planning that a vehicle pulled up just as he exited the tube after escaping from the glass cell? And what was the deal about the shell fragments that he dug out of his shoulder?
The motorcycle chase was awesome but I suspect it was all shot in front of a greenscreen.

It wasn't. They had a Top Gear 007 episode that showed the behind the scenes of that chase. It was all done live with stunt drivers.

Dunno. They show him sinking to his death.
Did the girl from the first scene save him?
Did he just wake up and save himself?
No CPR? No hospital? How'd he get from some mountainous area to a beach w an island girl?

All of this and none of this happened.
I didn't think it was that important to know how he survived; just that he survived.
It's one of those "Bond things". He found a way or got lucky.
...but just to take part in the htread, I'd say he swam to safety. If he had been rescued by Moneypenny then he would have learned her name then and not at the end of the movie.
