9mm AR-15/Carbine experience?

Interested in buying since I already have a 9mm. The practical side of me says it would be nice to have the common ammo usage between the hand gun and SBR/Carbine.
Anyone have experience or own a 9mm AR-15? Would like your thoughts.

I had a Colt 9mm AR before I went on one of Geauxt's infamous boat rides. Mine wasn't the SBR though. It's a nice rifle but if I was going to get just one AR in would get the 5.56. If I'm not mistaken you can convert a 5.56 to a 9mm with a new upper and a block in the lower. Some of the other AR experts on the board could provide better info on the conversion.

I'd like to have one of those.

I bet they're fun and if you want the ability to swap uppers, I agree with Thomas.
But if you want just a 9mm carbine, I would go with one that was designed around the cartridge, like a CX4 Storm, or even a Keltec Sub 2000.

They're fun for sure. Can't go wrong gettin a 5.56 and having the ability to convert it.

That would be the best reason for a 9mm AR upper in my mind.

Looks awkward with the 16" barrel, how did it handle before you lost it?

Those are the ugliest guns I have ever seen.

It handled just fine. I think it may be the pic angle and the type of magazine that makes it look awkward. If you put it up beside a regular AR they are almost identical.

Last I checked (a while ago) it was more cost effective to get a 5.56 AR and a separate 9mm carbine.
Getting a 2nd upper for an AR cost as much (or more) than a KelTec or HiPoint.

I was thinking about a 9mm AR but didnt see the point in spending that much on a dedicated 9mm upper. I bought a cheap arse Hi Point 9mm carbine and its been fun as hell. I would not trust it for HD but its a perfect truck gun.
