These are all statements of "independence." It's her "proof" that she doesn't need love or her old friends... she's going to make it.
her job isn't a real job
she still relies on her friends (her real job is managed by a friend + the dinner scene)

Now she can do whatever she wants, including hook up with some guy who is out of her league
in reality this makes no sense. in a dream? possibly

Except... that doesn't satisfy her at all.
i thought it was the opposite. it satisfied her so much she had her little poorly written breakdown, then went super hannah. they were making her look like a horrible person, as usual
that's my biggest thing...i just don't see why people are so enthralled with a show that is basically filled with horrible people who are not entertaining while not being funny

Your hatred for this show is unbridled, my man.

The actual Lena Dunham is even more revolting than the character. From the 1-1/2 episodes I've seen I don't see where they're even trying to be funny.
And being that physically repugnant is no accident. Its a choice she makes every single day.

Let me guess, 10 pages of how gross Lena Dunham looks without clothes. It's a valid criticism

It's only superficial if she's not naked in every single episode.

She's disgusting. I'd be ok with it if she wasn't such a deliberate exhibitionist. She's giving us all the finger at the expense of her show's success. Bad move IMO

You're right, show is a total flop

Critical success is not the same thing as commercial success.

Due to the absurd overhyping of the show I know her better than I care to. She's everywhere.

Well the show has already been renewed for a 3rd season. HBO even upped the episode order from 10 to 12.
So HBO seems to think its successful so far.

I grant you that, it's completely beyond dispute, but the two aren't mutually exclusive. I think it's also safe to say that critical acclaim and commercial failure can in time give way to commercial success. I think the perfect example of this is the guy who has attached his name to this show, Judd Apatow. Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared were both commercial failures yet outstanding shows -- he persevered and eventually his name turned into the proverbial Midas Touch. It's not absurd to think she can do the same thing even if Girls flops, though it's already looking like it will be around longer than both of the JA shows I mentioned. Especially as long as she's capitalizing upon her status as the flavor of the week/media darling.
...and let's be real, you really think Lena Dunham isn't making bank right now? In October she signed a book deal for 3.5 million, plus whatever she gets off of Girls. Sure, she's not exactly an OT baller yet, but give it time

This seems like a good arguement
I want to watch this show so i can join in the fight
