Yeah, I think so.
Skill wise, it seems like he'll come in as a natural extension of what Del Piero is now. I think he's a little further along, but still has some work to do.

Any chance in hell this helps us with Simmons?
You'd have to imagine that it would. An Aussie would only feel more comfortable knowing that there are other international players on the team.

dude looks coordinated for a 7-footer and has good feet. you can do a lot with that foundation
he definitely suffers from "long neck" though

Deng Deng now odd man out, as has been reported he was not going to be a take unless he had 3 years. I think Malone is probably a redshirt next year, he is extremely raw and has only been playing for 4 years. Also in an article I found he is expected to keep growing. Have zero issue with him being 13th guy next year and redshirting since minutes in the post will be hard to come by.
There is a chance we are not done. But in order to add a 6th player we will have to have some attrition.

With Odo signed as well. He won't have to play major minutes until his junior year. So he'll have plenty of time to develop.

don't make any conclusions yet, b/c it looks like he wants to avoid the post

I'd rather this not happen. As much as people seem to think Courtney would leave, I don't think he'll want to. He's a leader on the team (especially emotionally) and he's a large reason why Stringer and JOB are on the team.

He looked pretty good in the video. When people say he is "raw" I was thinking Andy Campbell-raw. This guy is better than that. Nice pick up to end the class. Added a 7-footer to the great guys we already have coming in.

To provide insight on a few questions asked...
1) Is LSU done?
- I'd say strongly no, it is very possible there is attrition at LSU (as there is everywhere, every year). They still would take Deng Deng (and process someone else) if he could come in with 3 to play 3. Not to mention with coaching changes across the nation bound to occur, certain guys will become available again and the staff has made it clear if there is a top guy there, they will take.
2&3) Does he play next year? Does he help with Ben Simmons?
- When asked how good Darcy Malone is, Ben replied, "hey i couldnt tell you". Followed that with, "Didn't he play on u17 National Team with you?" He said, "yeh he wasnt on much he was back up for the other 3 bigs". Going to assume that as long as JOB, Odo, Jarell, Mickey are all on campus and Courtney isn't processed or he is for Deng that it is highly possible Darcy gets a redshirt. As far as Simmons goes, he is in America now and will be for next two seasons. I'd say this helps a bit more with Dante Exum than Ben Simmons. If at all. Ben Simmons hasn't spoke with David Patrick either if you were wondering.

he has a jumper, which is already an improvement.

He knows him I am sure but hasn't spoken to him at least since he's been at LSU (of course this was as of a couple weeks ago). He did mention at some point in November that he planned to visit LSU in 2013. He knows Jarell from camps (bigger connection there).
