Or telling New Orleans why we should boycott the Hornets for signing Eric Gordon.

quote:No, i'm referring back to our lack of talent on defense. I'm not a Ryan fan, but it doesn't matter who they hire as long as we have bums on defense.
So should we just keep guys to save face? Gibbs and Spags had awful years. Williams wore out his welcome then burned the building down.
These guys we keep hiring aren't idiots. GW and Spags had VERY good track records. Much better than Ryan's, and they come here and look like idiots.
We can keep hiring new DCs but as long as Roman Harper is getting smoked, Patrick Robinson and Jenkins are embarrassments, we can't tackle, and we get no pass rush, it won't matter who we hire.
Im literally copy/pasting these posts from last year when we hired Spags.

If anyone want to realistically look at Gregg Williams defenses (not the off the field stuff)...he helped get us to the playoffs all 3 years he was here. Similar attitude and passion as Ryan. If it gets us to the playoffs for 3 straight years, thats a hire I want. If he wears out his welcome at that point, it will still have been worth it.
Not my favorite hire, but not one I despise either.
If all this holds true.

Saints to Hire Rob Ryan as DC

There's no doubt that Greg Williams' defense was instrumental in winning the Super Bowl, but assuming Ryan will have success here based on having similar attitude and passion is a bit delusional.

Not that everybody automatically lives up to their draft spot but we've got a ton of high picks on D, we've got to get something out of them. Guys like PRob and Jenkins absolutely have the tools to be good players.

Fat Rob is not the answer. He wasn't the answer in Dallas and he sure as hell isn't the answer here.
Here's the good news: He won't last past one season here. Can't imagine Payton standing by while Fat Rob cries for attention from the cameras.

And is the reason we were booted his last two years. He should have lost quite a few more games the way he handled end of game situations. He was absolutely horrible at that

Agreed, as is assuming he's a terrible candidate because of his similarities to GW

I think Ryan can be ok but his downside is Spags bad. In 2011, they had a middle of the road defense ranking between 11-16 in nearly every stat. However in 2012 they were pretty bad.

Fletcher Mackel was on 106.1 the day after the announcement of the 3-4 switch, and he was going off all crazy like that it was a terrible move. When the host of the show (forget his name right now) said to FM that Cam Jordan looks like he'd fit as a good DE in a 3-4, FM started practically screaming that there's "no defensive end in a 3-4; it's the outside linebacker and Jordan is not an OLB."
Um... what???? I wanted to call in and make the dude look a fool, but he had left the set immediately following that segment. Dude is a complete tool

I blame 2010 on the players, specifically Harper. They were amped for that game.
Last year was just a great game between 2 great teams. It was a road game, we lost. Yes our defense wasn't good last year, but he got the most out of it, especially compared to this year

quote:Yeah, its not for lack of effort. They've spent tons of picks, first round picks, on defensive players. They've been wrong on too many of those picks, though.

They've built an all time great offense, but 7 years and now four defensive coordinators later our defense is still awful.

ding ding ding ding ding!!!!! we have a winner

My honest reasons for not liking the potential hire have nothing to do with GW. I don't like the hire Bc he hasn't produced anywhere.
If we do end up with him I will be very disappointed.

While I agree about the entire game in general, his play calling on that final drive was fricking horrendous. Press man coverage in that situation was pathetic. Greer almost got beat deep on the play before Vernon Davis' catch and run if not for a late arm bar that could've been called.
