Music festivals have jumped the shark

Seriously. I love a good festival with a funky lineup but in the past 5 years it has become the hip thing for "music promoters" to do. I believe it really cheapens a live show when a band is given a limited time slot in the middle of the day during hot summer months.
Beyond that, every city has a festival now and the lineups are severly saturated with the same acts every year. What was once a special event has now become run of the mill. There are of course exceptions, but I am speaking for the majority.

Yeah, music fests are a pretty new idea.
I wonder if it will catch on?

You are really hilarious.
Face it, there has been a major influx of festivals over the past 5-10 years like no other time.
Woodstock was the blueprint, followed by Watkins Glen and Jazz Fest in the 70s.. Festivals weren't big again until the 90's with Lollapolooza and the Phish festivals. Then Coachella and Bonnaroo emerged in the early aughts, leading to the current overexposure of festivals.

Because they're not going to fests that phish is playing at obviously

If you looking for a good festival check out Gathering of the Vibes. I had a blast last year and recommend it to anyone looking for a good lineup and small crowd.

I hate the fact that Coachella hangs on to the idea the Red Hot Chili Peppers are a primetime slot.

The consumer doesn't think so.

Maybe, but I'll jump at any chance to see three or more artists I love coupled with another handful I'd like to see over a weekend.

You are the worst troll ever.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said...

I read your post twice and I still can't figure out exactly what you're bitching about. If you don't like the larger festivals then go to a smaller one.

Whether this is true or not, there is never enough talent to match festivals of long ago. Sorry, but the talent, or at least the bands today chosen for the festivals, just don't compare or matchup...
