These games include World Cup and European Championship qualifiers and two UEFA Champions League games, one of which was in England.
Europol's chief Rob Wainwright said the investigation found "match fixing activity on a scale we have not seen before".

Wainwright revealed the probe uncovered around £7million in betting profits and £1.27m in bribes to players and officials and has already led to several prosecutions.
The investigation identified about 425 corrupt officials, players and serious criminals in 15 countries and 50 arrests have been made so far.

Europeans and soccer are to corruption what peanut butter and jelly are to a sandwich.

Now we'll find out what's been wrong with Fernando Torres.

Benitez is in on this for sure. Also, Chelsea-Barca 09 at the Bridge is clearly the CL game in England referenced.

I'm sure about 75% of the matches in question involve teams from Eastern Europe.
Match fixing doesn't necessarily involve the actual result being dubious. Most of it probably involves a single player acting to influence the outcome of a prop bet (first yellow card of the game, number of corners, etc.).

Speaking of that, what is to stop Alicia Keys from getting someone to bet millions on the length of the national anthem for her and just extending it to reach the over?

It wouldn't be the Chelsea-Barca 2009 game because it was a highly watched match. Gambling syndicates don't want any suspicions emerging in games that they're fixing. This is why a third tier Canadian League was recently indicted and disbanded for match fixing.
Not to mention, any match fixing in favor of Barcelona wouldn't make sense, considering Chelsea had the lead until injury time and Barcelona was playing a man down. If that game was fixed, Orevbro wouldn't have wrongly sent off Abidal, thus risking Barcelona not getting the equalizing goal.
It was just a horribly refereed game.

He must have been suffering from a reoccurrence of his malaria.

Do these count managers? Because Stuart McCall has been match fixing for years.
