"I mean, garage, it's even more depressing than whatever punk has become because punk can mean anything from Pennywise or baggy-pants Warped Tour garbage to the bands that are actually great. At least there's some variety. Garage is where punk rockers go to be even more close-minded. Pretty quickly, I had more contempt for garage people than I did the rest of the world, so I wanted to do something to get away from it…somehow, it's so easy to get stuck in that rut." -- Jay Reatard, 2009. I'm deeply hurt you think Modest Mouse, the Archers, Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc. are horrible. It will definitely keep me up tonight.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not, but you are entertaining.

Unfortunately, it's probably me. I think I was that dogmatic and humorless.

Clearly you know nothing about Garage Rock or what Jay Reatard even meant by saying that. He said that because his music blew everything that was considered Garage Rock at the time out of the water. And that was in 2009 after he started turning more towards an indy pop phase.
And when I was 18 I loved Modest Mouse, Pavement, and almost everything that came out of the Elephant 6 collaboration. I still respect the hell out of those bands (btw if you are trying to say Neutral Milk Hotel is the best band that came out of Elephant Six you would be wrong, Beulah was much better).

I only have one Fugazi album (13 Songs). And I would take Attack on Memory over it. I guess I am just a total idiot.

DON'T YOU KNOW THAT 13 SONGS IS NOT AN ALBUM?! IT IS A COMPILATION OF TWO DIFFERENT EP'S! GOD, YOU ARE SO STUPID AND YOU CLEARLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MUSIC!!
ALL OF YOUR OPINIONS ARE INVALID!

My bad.
At least I didn't imply Neutral Milk Hotel was the best Elephant 6 band. Everyone knows that it is a proven fact that Beulah really is.

It has been empirically proven to be Apples in Stereo. You must now update your avatar to Fun Trick Noisemaker if you wish to continue to post here. I'm sorry. You must conform.
It's science.

Will do. I think I heard them on XMU the other day.

Hey guys did you hear a band made one good album about the life and death of Anne Frank. It is absolutely the most powerful album ever written, pay no attention to that other album. On Avery Island was just some goofy mistake jajaja. NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL GREATEST BAND TO EVER EXIST!!!!!!!

Humor me please. Outside of Godspeed (whos arguably as popular as the "xmu" bands you so quickly dismissed as below you) what were your favorite albums of 2012?

Aren't you the guy who thinks Passion Pit's Sleepyhead should be considered the best song of the modern era? You might want to reconsider who you are calling hipster and take a look in the mirror. An indy/electro pop band from Brooklyn made the greatest song ever?

1. They're from Boston.
2. I wouldn't give a frick if they were from the Yukon Territory. Only hipsters like yourself give consideration to such things. You want to appear cool, and so you go out of your way to only listen to music that is considered hip and cool. To that end, you ask questions about whether you're supposed to like the music, or what it says about yourself if you were to like the music, or whether you would be considered cool because you liked the music. This is the hipster analysis. And it's sad. I actually feel sorry for you. You wanna know what I do? I listen to the song, and if I like and want to play it again, then I like it, and that's the end of the analysis. This is all that matters. Nothing else is taken into consideration.
3. I had Sleepyhead looping for two weeks after the first time I heard it. Thus, Sleepyhead is an amazing. End of analysis.
4. What brand of skinny jeans are considered cool these days?

Wow, these are some really obscure albums. I bet the guy who made this list is fricking Cool. As. shite. How did he even hear about these bands? Man I'm so jealous. I bet his t-shirts are super ironic.
