I guess you quit watching basketball in the 80s

Have you ever watched LeBron James and the Miami Heat? You know, the defending champs.

He did that about 5 times last night against the Hornets. The national guys are losing their minds over the assist numbers. The assists aren't what's making them better, many of them have been cheap like that one.
Kobe shooting less is what's making them better. Ball movement.
this
edit -> this meaning the ball movement

if I have to spell it out for you in the most basic terms: Basketball sucks now because the level of selfish play that exists and is glorified is pathetic. Exhibit A: Kobe Bean Rapist Bryant.
aside from the Lakers with Kobe to a degree all of the title winners in the last 10 years have played extremely unselfish ball.
Miami, Dallas, San Antonio, Detroit... All very unselfish.
and when the Lakers won it was b/c Phil had Kobe in line. When he tried to play hero ball is when they would collapse.

he gave up multiple layups to dump it off to Howard underneath.
He dumped it off to Howard for easier shots. That is nothing close to stopping on the fastbreak to give Pau 2 points.

unfortunately, most of the games played do not involve the eventual champs. rest of it, and particularly the regular season, not lovable.
Don't get me wrong. I have enjoyed watching some Heat. Some Celtics. But I just can't stand watching people take bad shots. Kobe has made a hall of fame career out of making bad shots. I get that.
I am just saying that It's that kind of play that makes the game uglier.
I came up with this while I was taking a dump: what's more exciting to watch? Pinball or Skeeball?

I hope Kobe never passes again and shoots 50 times a game. After every game he gives the press a double bird and pisses on the table. People like you quit watching basketball because of it and he starts wearing t shirts that say GOAT on the front and frick everybody on the back

This current form of the offense, kobe facilitating out of the post, is just filthy

there were plenty of selfish players and crappy teams that played ugly ball in the 80s too. I think you may be suffering from good old days syndrome.

Are you kidding me? The 70s where infamous for that style of selfish, flashy play
Posted on 1/30/13 at 11:30 pm to baybeefeetz
sure.
there just weren't as many games on TV back then so you were more likely to only see the better teams.

None of kobe's other assists tonight even remotely resembled that. He just did that to make Pau feel better over last night and to make a point. Kobe's actually made 4 or 5 other fantastic passes that led to easy missed shots or free throw attempts. The team is improving from overall ball movement though and that always had to start with kobe. I had about given up on kobe being a top flight NBA superstar but he has looked very good lately. I don't know what supplements the guy's taking but he still looks like the best athlete on the court most nights.

Fortunately for me, then, I wasn't born until late in that decade and did not start watching basketball until the 80s.
And your post is the first time I have ever heard anybody say what you just said about the 1970s. Played a frick ton of basketball. AAU national tourneys, high school.
Not saying what you're saying is not true.
EVen without comparing it to another era, I know I was taught that the game be played a certain way, and I don't see a lot of that kind of play.

The 80's? Somehow forget Jordan scoring 69 fricking points?
Posted on 1/30/13 at 11:33 pm to WicKed WayZ
Jordan was also an extremely selfish player. I didn't come here praising Michael Jordan.

If you dont like what the nba has been for a while, then why keep watching? The nba has been superstar centric for a very long time
