I have a great job offer but they just hit me with a 5 year no compete. This seems a little long. Is this normal?

I thought 2 years was the max. It also must have a geographic constraint, and it cant be a whole state. Just certain parishes/counties, or a certain region. That is for non-compete, I'm not sure if no contest is the same thing.

For medical professionals, typically two years within a certain geographical location (i.e. 30 miles from the location of the practice).
