I would prefer one with less recoil. Any suggestions. TIAV

Anyway, Semi-auto's have the least recoil. 20 Gauge will do you just fine.

This full of managed recoil buckshot.

If you weigh more than 120 lbs there's almost no recoil with this.

20 gauge semi-auto, if you have little experience with firearms.
Get one with a stock - the pistol grip models w/o a stock are a nose bleed waiting to happen.
For even less recoil, load it with 2 3/4" shells, but make sure you have buckshot loaded. I do not recommend #2 shot as some people do - it doesn't have enough penetration to reliably stop an attacker.

Buck shot would be better. Any 12 gauge, preferably a pump, will be best. The reason for the pump is that if you are in a home invasion situation, many times the sound of a pump shot gun being "pumped" will make the intruder decide he's got other places he need to be right that very instant. The buck shot is in case you actually have to shoot. Having buckshot instead of a slug means you only have to point in the general direction and have an almost 100% chance at incapacitating the intruder with one shot.
Yes there is recoil but the good part is that you will only need to fire once and then you'll have the rest of your long life to rcover from it's shock.

I was kidding about the slugs, since she asked for a shotgun with low recoil. But yeah, I keep 00 in mine.

Remington Home defense 12 gauge. 1 shell 4 or 5 shot followed by all buckshot. It comes with either a 5 or 7 shell capacity. I have the 7. The design has been on the market forever and is fool proof.

Who in their right mind would destroy a Benelli SBE?

ETA: Ok - now I realize you weren't serious. My bad.
