Oh you know him personally? Because I don't think he would laugh at all at the notion, considering he started a jam band with Trey Anastasio and Stewart Copeland called Oysterhead.

The jam band community accepts them as a jam band I think. But Les himself would laugh at that notion.
I think Les would laugh at any label a person attempted to put on Primus not because there is anything inherently wrong with being labeled a jam band.

Primus will always be their own style of music IMO

What does that have to do with primus?

Of course but its not like the term jam band carries any genre stipulations.

Maybe. Maybe not. I read an interview with him about Oysterhead. He talked about meeting Trey Anastasio and seeing his first Phish show. He was completely amazed that there was a community within the rock genre that held musicianship and improvisation in such high regard. I'm pretty sure he was completely unaware of what bands like Phish and Grateful Dead were doing. Since then he's always been emmersed in that scene.

If you have 6 levels of jam bands defined, you may have a problem.

Please explain the argument that Yonder not being a jam band. They totally accept and embrace the jam band label placed upon them by the fans and media.
