The Notre Dame AD is going to get fired when the truth comes out. They did a half-hearted investigation to find just enough evidence to back Te'o. They had no intentions of finding out if Te'o had lied or not. They didn't want to know, they just hoped to protect themselves, cause they pushed the sob story as well.

How many of them never met "Lennay" face to face and believed she was the love of their life for over 3 years?
I don't think it has ever been claimed or reported that they were love buddies for 3 years? My understanding was that it was over a 5 month period after the supposed car accident in April 2012.

No. He won't. Nor do I understand why he would be.
He can just claim he was duped to.
He too will have the protection of the media.
I don't think everyone here realizes the power our media has in both sports and politics.
Like I said earlier: ESPN OWNS CFB now. If ESPN wants ND's AD as the scapegoat, then yes, he will be fired. I just don't see that right now.

The original news stories (which were not refuted at the time by ND/Te'o) stated that Te'o met Kekua in person at Stanford in 2009.

Interesting but not surprising ... I find it hilarious though that Notre Dame went over hell and back to cite their "private investigation"
Turns out all they did was do an electronic search which is what Deadspin did in the first place
How do they not interview anyone?
If this isn't self-implicating Te'o and Notre Dame aiding him in covering up the hoax, I don't know what is

The investigation ordered by Notre Dame was limited to the electronic search, [Notre Dame spokesman Dennis] Brown said. Investigators did not interview Te'o or his family, nor did anyone attempt to contact Ronaiah Tuiasosopo or any of his relatives. In response to questions, university officials said the investigators did not examine cell phone records, e-mails or other electronic communication to determine the length or extent of Te'o's communication over the past few years with the person claiming to be Lennay Kekua, nor did the university ask Te'o to take a lie detector test.
what an absolute joke

We're never going to get the whole story because the people that should be investigating it are too tied up with the people that have a stake in covering it up.
This.^^^ Some dude from Notre Dame will be pleading the 5th Amendment before Congress next year.

I highly doubt it was a private investigator, probably told the secretary to google the persons name and they found out she wasn't real.
I think slowly details will leak out.
The SOuth Bend Tribune seems to be one that DGAF and has no problems uncovering this themselves. It seems to me the reporter who got straight up lied to by Te'o's famiy would want to get to the bottom of this and seek the truth.

Notre Dame AD staked his reputation on a google search?

Well this thread sure has died down!

The Tribune writers seem to be the only journalists that were actually offended by being duped used as pawns to strengthen Manti's Heisman campaign.

see this statement currently scrolling on the espn ticker about someone from ND stating teo had every right to tell his story how he did.. blah blah.. and ending with "he did nothing wrong"
thats horseshite. teo himself admitted to half of it.. and did at least do some wrong by going with the flow and not coming clean to start.. that is at best.

Only thing that would make the ND search even more pathetic is if they used Bing to do their online searches.

The AD claims he found on on December 26th.
From my understanding, ND students set up a foundation and people started donating money to this foundation some time the day or couple of days after the Title game.
Meaning, ND knew ND students set up a foundation, people were donating money to this foundation for a person that didn't exist, and ND said nothing about it.
That's pretty egregious and IMO easily enough for an AD to be fired over.

yep!
and the sad thing is that you had idiots in this very thread defending ND and Teo based on the "investigation" that ND (supposedly) hired a private investigator to do. (I wish I remembered what pages that was on)
When I started asking questions like, "What is the PI company name?", "What were the results of the investigation?", people in this thread made up lame excuses like, "Maybe the PI company wishes to remain anonymous"
AND YET, AND YET...
There are people that still believe Teo and ND. Lies after lies just keep on being uncovered and yet people still want to believe these frickers. How stupid are people?
