I'm one of the few who did NOT enjoy it

"I don't know about ya'll but I sure as hell didn't come down from the goddamn smokey mountains, cross 5 thousand miles of water, fight my way through half of Sicily, and jump out of a frickIN airplane to teach the Nazzis lessons in humanity, Nazzi ain't got no humanity."

I just wish we had seen more of the Basterds being Basterds
No kidding. Way too much needless dialogue that was Tarantino trying to outdo himself

Like I said, I borderline hated it first viewing. Now I love it.
I think Tarantino eventually grows on you. At least for me and others I know. My parents hated Pulp Fiction first viewing, now love it.

IB got better the more I watched it. Didn't care for it so much the first viewing. Now I enjoy it. It's definitely better than Django. (which I enjoyed)
Yeah but once you watch Django a few more times your opinion may change. I find all of QTs movies get better with each viewing. First time I saw IB I thought it was solid. But after a while I thought it was effing awesome

Might be one of the best intros of all time

Frick off. The dialogue was tedious in my mind and not nearly as clever as Tarantino thought it was. Dialogue in Pulp Fiction was innovative and fresh. I did not find it to be so with IB. So

I like IB a lot. I remember watching it theaters and thinking that it was great...Tarantino does a fantastic job of building suspense throughout the movie.
I do remember hating Pitt in it though, and I usually like Pitt. I know why he sounded and acted like he did, but it sort of took me out of it a little bit...it was just too over the top for me. Again, I realize that was the point of the character, but I enjoyed that the least.
Waltz was awesome.

Pitts character is a caricature of how Europeans see Americans.
Stiglitz is a representation of a nazi turning their own horrific ways against the nazis.
The bear Jew is a representation of the nazis fear of the animalistic Jews being in power over Europe and exterminating all the non-Jews
Landa is a representation of how Germans saw themselves, just coldly and professionally doing their job to the best of their ability and ignoring what their job really is.

Someone like a Bruce Campbell or similar would have been better for that role imo

Pitt was doing a comical John Wayne impersonation
John Wayne played John Wayne in all of his movies and that is what Pitt was portraying with his "Bon Jorno" matter of fact style of acting

IMO Pitt was pretty much just supposed to be comic relief in between the tense nazi/shoshana scenes. I thought it was a fun role that gave the movie a lighter/tarantino type feel.

There are better candidates for that style of role for sure

Christopher Waltz was amazing. Almost all of the scenes were epic. There weren't enough Basterds and some of them were kind of cartoonish.
And it wasn't believable that the Col would just assume he was completely safe from any harm at the end. I know the movie couldn't just let him "get away" with everything, but he wouldn't just get stupid all of the sudden.
Still a good movie.
