I like Miles and I think he's a pretty good coach. But there's no denying he fails on offense. Just total abject failure.
No one denies him credit for recruiting. I guess what we all really wonder is why can't Miles develop the players esp on offense once they get to campus? 80% seems like a good record except its really only good enough for SEC west runner up these days.

Just ignore our 2011 SEC championship.

It is roundly ignored. Unfortunately. And besides, just three sec west titles in his 8 years is good but not that great.

This is not worth refudiating.

So saban has 4 out of 5 in 10 years Les 3 out of 4 in 8. Not to far off. Sabans the best coach in the country, les aint to far behind and has actually taken LSU further than saban ever did.
Les has hired every coach and signed every kid. We dont always have a top ranked class. These kids arent nfl ready from day 1 like some of you think.
ecruiting isnt as easy as you think. Baton rouge is a dump. Plenty of top programs have just as much if not more to offer, especially academics. Players arent just lined up out side the football office trying to sign scholar ship players. You have to go out and find these kids early and actually recruit them. I doubt very few kids would committ to lsu without ever meeting the coaches or visiting the school. At least not very good ones.

So does every CFB coach who wins a lot. Chip Kelly, Nick Saban, and Urban Meyer aren't taking 2* athletes and winning a lot of games with them. They are benefitting from having great talent................................................. If any three of those coaches you mentioned we're coaching LSU do you think LSU would have a worse, same or better record than Miles's reign?
I agree with this point if you are insinuating that if these coaches had been coaching LSU instead of Miles during his tenure, that we would have the same or better record.

CLM is the exact opposite of what he used to be. He was aggressive and went for the jugular putting good players in position to make plays.
Under his supervision that fire has been reduced to a spark with nothing combustible in within a mile. It's frustrating that he doesn't give a sh*t about improving anything about this offense.
Hell at least acknowledge it and give your fanbase something to look forward to
I also very much agree with this. The Miles today is not the same man as he was 5 years ago. He's been traumatized by fear of making a mistake and ironically can't seem to not make one these days.

I agree with all that. Miles is a good coach with the misfortune of being in the same division as Saban, and the further misfortune of being the only BCS era coach to have to beat a division rival twice in one year. And I sure don't think recruiting is easy and I know LSU can't just win automatically with just any coach. No program can.
I just would like to see the offensive talent better utilized, and I don't think anyone disagrees with that. Merely bringing in the talent is not enough.

Les Miles just wins for whatever reason. He is doing something right, the kids seem to love this guy. The bottom line is winning and he has our program in the National Championship discussion just about every year he has been here. We were a play or two away from being there this year again. I watch pro teams (saints), bama and Georgia screw up this year with clock management it happens at all levels for whatever reason. I am amazed how any can whine about this program. We are one of the top five programs in the country for god sakes, in the toughest conference. As far as the Clemson game I am not sure how bad our kids wanted to be there and for Clemson it was their BCS game cause they have never tasted it.

I can't take some of you idiots on the rant seriously. Wanna talk about player development, but don't want to put the blame for that where it belongs, on Position Coaches

Keep your opinions to yourself...how do you think we get that talent. Some of you don't have a freaking clue as to what it means to be in charge.

As would i, but chavis got here in 09. So all the guys in Minters class were not recruited by Chavis, they were by miles, malveto, pelini and whomever else might have been on the defensive staff.
Seems like mingo and montgomery committed on signing day so id assume they had spoke with chavis at some point before comitting, all the other guys did so in 2008 while chavis was still coaching at UT. So in fact Les is the only one still on staff responsible for recruiting the guys from the 09 class. Which is one of the best in the history of LSU and it shows by how many guys left early.
So Les and only Les seems to be the one responsible for our remarkable run in 2011 since those were all his players.

He is responsible for all that. And stud is not a poor oline coach. I blame 08 and 09 on saban not recruiting well enough at that position his last 2 seasons. Lets not forget in 05 saban only had 8 committed players before he bolted to the nfl.

Who gets credit for the 2007 national title?

Miles was not responsible for the Chavis hire. That was all the AD and TAF.
And even Hebert and Deke said Stud was just a marginal o-line coach on the radio last week
