He has presided over 2 disastrous lockouts. He got a shite TV deal for the league. Hockey is in far worse shape as a brand now than it was 20 years or so ago.

Say Goodell sucks all you want but the NFL is stronger than ever and hockey is irrelevant.

i thought the owners won the last lockout pretty handily, which gives him some backing

*ETA: "i thought" means based on memory, as i don't have an opinion as to who won

In spite of Roger.

anyone could have taken over control of the NFL and done fine. Honestly, I see changes he's made and planning on making really hurting the league in the years to come.

He may be taking care of the owners in negotiations, but the overall health of the league seems to be diminishing big time since he took over. But the owners and that douche are so arrogant that they think the fans will keep coming back.

NHL needs to let steroids in so they can have a 250 goal scorer one season and bring in some casual fans.

The day the old ESPN contract died, the League was doomed. The Players have been operating under the false assumption that anybody other than the die-hards give a damn. And this periodic myth that rolls out about a single player recapturing interest in the sport is folly- "so and so will get everybody watching". They just need to focus on the markets they are in, negotiate something eventually with ESPN that is meaningful and stop pretending they are more than a niche sport outside their core cities.

I'm just jazzed to be able to watch Hockey Night in Canada again. It is not possible to express how great that will be.
