What happend to Hilliard this year. He seemed to be a little softer than last year. I remember him as a punishing back like when he ran smooth over the Georgia defender in SEC champ game. Just didn't feel like he ran with that intensity this yr?

They liked to bring in Hilliard last year when the defenses were finally "broken" so to speak. After we had ran it at them all game and they were too tired to tackle, then we hit them with our "thumper". This season, we didn't wear too many teams out for him to be ultra effective. Not to say he can't be effective in other situations, just saying he is super effective when the D is worn out.

I don't want to hate on him at all. KRing is not what we're talking about.

He has tried to run between the tackles plenty in his career and done nothing. Falls over because he runs too high. Theres a reason the coaches stopped giving him all the running plays. I wish him the best, but I just feel he's average.

And Blue is injury prone...hate to say it.

Any way you slice it, Magee is gonna be in the mix.

That is simply not true. Ford is effective running between the tackles given the opportunity. However he is rarely asked to do so (hint: predictability of personnel). If he only does it rarely and does not break a big one, the sample is to small to conclude his inability to do so.

The same calm was made about Keiland. However, he too rarely ever was asked to run between that tackles. Have you seen the Oregon backs run between the tackles. Many times it is the design of the play that determines its success. Notice how ineffective our running between the tackles has been when we need a first down on third and short? Even our power backs have failed.

So to make the statement you made about Ford's ability between that tackles you would have to diagnose each of his attemtps as to scheem, defense, blocking, etc. Which I highly doubt you have done.

It seems many on here are like Miles in their love for the power back. That is why we never have scat backs. A Barry Sanders type back would have a hard time playing a significant role on a Miles team. And fans like you would complain that he losses too many yards and does not attack the defender for a 2 yard gain.

You'd prefer the Bus or Earl Campbell over Emmit, Walter or Barry. So would Miles.

Blue, and Hill I would hope to see get 15 touches a game next year. I would hope that with the 65 plays probably we should typically average 40 runs and 25 passes. It's not like Yeldon and Marshall had a billion carries. They were super effective with the catches and the runs they did get.

Todd Gurley 17 TOUCHES per game 1502 yards 17 TDs
Keith Marshall(same team) 9 TOUCHES per game 850 yards 9 TDs

(neither played 14th game yet so expect final totals to be higher)
Eddie Lacy 16 TOUCHES per game 1354 yards 17 TDs
TJ Yeldon(same team) 13 TOUCHES per game 1131 yards 12 TDs

Our top 2/3 backs
Jeremy Hill 15 TOUCHES per game(10 games played 2 of those games, FIVE touches combined so a more accurate estimation would be 18 touches per game) 823 yards 12 TDs
split between:
Spencer Ware 10 TOUCHES per game 597 yards 2 TDs
Kenny Hilliard(yeah I know) 7 TOUCHES per game(12 per the first 4 weeks 5 after) 485 yards 6 TDs(343 yards and 6 TDs the first four weeks 142 yards after)

And it's not just that, they had effective QBs good olines to run behind(ours aint too shabby in run support at least), and this in turn made them less predictable.

If we become effective with the pass game I think Magee and Hilliard garner 10 touches a peice because I don't see Ford staying(he'll kill it at the combine) getting only 6 touches

Lacy is relatively predictable, yes

Blocks well

Runs inside and outside

Catches passes when he can

He does it all, so I don't get why he would be predictable.

Just wanted to say that I hope Blue starts and Hill is the second back (2 back rotation) next year for you guys, that'd be fun to watch. They could both get 1000 yards and 10 TDs.

I believe Blue should get more of the carries next year, and Hill after that. Im nothing short of amazed at how good Hill is, IMO better than UGA's "Gurshall". But Blue is still every bit of good, he has the seniority and this year could really skyrocket his draft stock if he gets 14 touches a game. Hilliard should just focus on fullback more, and try to give us what ware gave us:that passblocker and threat out of the backfield, as well as be the dependable guy to give us those tough yardage when we need them most. Now for Ford, he's actually my favorite out of the group, yes im biased because we are both from the same town,my brother played football with him in HS, my dad played football with his dad. So i love to see him get carries, and these past years before Hill's emergance i believe he was our best back who didnt get enough touches. But i would like to see him declare, because all he is good for here is kick returning and doing a stupid toss sweep once a game that goes for 0 yards because its so predicatable my lil 8 year old cousin knows it. I dont know if he will be an everydown back, but he seems like a very good 3rd change of pace back for some team.

Now i hear there is another very talented guy, Terrence Mcgee, idk where would fit in, i heard he was switched to receiver if he is as good as ive heard then he needs to step up and contribute to this team next year?

He will inherit Michael Fords touches.

I don't think it's the RBs who are predictable, it's the personnel packages and same boring plays. Ware runs inside and lately, caught those little middle RB screens. Ford runs outside, the option, and the fake FB dive pitch play. It's not who they are as players, it's the positions that they find themselves in bc that's what coach thinks is best and the plays that they are given.

That's what I mean (as explained in earlier posts in here). Aside from speed, a halfback can do everything if he's allowed to do it. The staff doesn't allow players to do multiple things.
