Fondess Memories of Pete were his freshman year, when he would light up the old Ag...Center in the frosh game and half the place would empty for the Varsity game....to follow him to the Local Clubs in TTown.

Pete averaged 44 points a game. Had the three point shot been used then, he would have averaged over 57 points per game.

Se he would have averaged 13+ 3-pointers per game?

That is a hell of a lot of three pointers.

JJ Reddick, the all-time leader in 3's, averaged slightly over three a game. Close to four a game during his best season. Pete would have to average 9+ threes more a game than Reddick for the OP's statement to be true.

I saw him put up 63 one night without that 3 point line in the old Ag center. Seems like he rained in about 15 shots form 25 feet

Without question the best Tiger ever. IMO one of the top 5 college players ever and certainly, as he was chosen previously, one of the top 50 NBA players of all time. I agree with the great John Havlicek. Simply the best ball handler; ever. R.I.P. Pistol Pete.

This is something Dale Brown said one time and I think he believed it, but I also have my doubts. Certainly, his average could have been 5-6 points higher with him having the green light all the time. And, with a 3-point line, on some of those long two-pointers he would have positioned himself for 3.

People repeat an old Dale story about Dale charting all his shots and coming up with 56 ppg. 50 maybe, 56 probably not.

Averaging 12 three-pointers per game would have been his greatest achievement. Even greater than his 56 ppg average.

My favorite line in that LA Times article...

"His shooting range was anywhere inside the gymnasium."

Dale came to his assertion by plotting where Pete shot his 44.3ppg from and extrapolating the 3pt line into the equation. Yeah, 12-13 made 3-pointers a game was probable- dude could hit the bottom of the net from anywhere.

Also, Dale calculated more shots a game w/ the shot clock rule- Pete used to dribble off time when in the lead (I've seen him hit a hook-shot from the corner of halfcourt at the buzzer just for fun).

Pete was such a show-off; you would've had to DRAG him inside the 3pt line to get him to shoot from that close. Seriously, 15-20 made 3-pointers would've been more likely.

OK, CSB, fu don't care.

Used to go to the cow palace during practice (we were like 9). Pete would stay after shooting free throws and we'd tap it back to him. sometimes he'd play us 1 on the neighborhood.

Used to go to the games way early and turn down the seats to spell LSU.

I bleed p&g and Pete is a big reason why.

My friend at work ran in my office and said you better sit down. Pete was lightyears ahead of his time.
