The floor plan is much better than the last time I was here in late summer. They added an entrance, waiting area and redid the bar where it can be found.

I remember when it was The Cafe and they sold $1 fishbowls. It was a great dive bar with a pool table and a great jukebox

I like this place but have a tough time getting my wife to go because she doesn't like the rustic smell of the place. Did they fix this, if so, I might go tomorrow.

I am the wrong person to ask my sense of smell is not very good, but that spicy shrimp in the bread bowl I just ate is...

I like it. I just head down Bayou Paul Road and I'm there. It's above average and a decent wine list. Also a $5.00 corkage fee so bring your own. Nice fish and duck. He remodeled about four months ago. No idea on a partner.

It appears that the remodel has almost doubled the number of tables. I had the fish special which was a nice sized piece of Chilean sea bass over a lobster fritter with a saffron sauce. I thought it was very good.
My wife had the stuffed fish of the day which was flounder.
I think the food is very good for the Baton Rouge area, not top end, but much better than out normal dinner at Red Lobster.

You must live near my parents.

Your parents live where?

Coulee is a French term for naturally occurring or manmade drainage canals(aka creeks) in south Louisiana.

Partner is a younger chef who used to be the Executive Chef at Mansurs almost 6 years ago or so. His sister-in-law is also helping over there as well in the front of the house.

They might be in need of a Sommelier, you know anyone?

I might know someone who does some consulting work on the side to help fine tune certain selections. Of course Im not sure they could afford the full-time position though

Near Bayou Paul Road.
Well I asked a stupid question. I'm not too far from Bayou Paul Road myself and I bought 4 acres on it last year. Cool place back in there.

I guess I didn't want to give the exact street.
Yes, it is a very nice area back there.
