shite, thanks dude. That's how we do it from now on. I'm telling Sean Peyton. No more failing to get a critical third or fourth and one. We just give it to our big fullback and let him fall forward for a yard (or two). Oh shite almost forgot the part about gaining steam. Sean would have been pissed when it didn't work and he found out I left that part out.

Gosh, what play do you think NFL teams run most often on 3rd and 1 when they are trying to run out the clock? I see a whole lot of runs in that situation so I guess they're in on the secret already.

I think that most nfl coaches would run most of the time. I also think that most leaders, whether in sports, the military, or business, lose their nerve in tight situations. The great leaders - Belichick, Walsh - often throw in those situations. How often? Enough to make defenses play more honestly.

Clemson was simply NOT going to let us run the clock out with our running game. That was so obvious by the end of the fourth quarter that I would be seriously depressed right now if our coaches had tried to muscle it in that situation. I know there is an easy cure for what failed us on second down - Mett just has to make that easy play - there would be no easy cure for coaches too dumb to take what the defense is giving away.
