Coaches have NO recourse from league punishment. Nada. Zilch. Zero. If he wanted to try deflamation in court he could but that would still be going on ala Vilma. A major issue in the Vilma case is the league circumventing the NFLPA description of league discipline guidelines. Again, coaches do not even have that.
For a coach, you understand the situation and take it. Ya gotta understand the oligarchy Goodell is running

My high school/college understanding of what Aikman did seems a decent course of action for all involved.
Didn't Aikman renegotiate? Meaning put money back on table to be payed later? Got to add more players and then he was still paid by Dallas after retirement?
Is this correct? Is that actually what happened? It is how I remember but again I was 17-21. Is that feasible? Is it possible under current NFLPA deals. Or did it EVER happen.
I would have no problem throwing a couple million back in the pot knowing I will be getting it AFTER my career was over. Nice little 2 year pension plan.

This. LSUsaint's logic is extremely convoluted. Payton was trying to be a good little boy in hopes he would be allowed back early ala Vick and rapelisburger.

Get off your knees, Payton isn't in the room!
Payton stayed quiet because of the proof he was presented with and I have no doubt he was warned against talking out about the league because it was an "open ended" suspension.
Which is exactly what I'm saying, he is guilty as charged and his lack of denial is proof positive of that. NO WAY the NFL was backing off his punishment once the players retaliated. Payton was proven there was a bounty, the NFL just went against the wrong person(s) when trying to include players who carried it out.
Payton was nailed, and he got a raise for it!

His contract is extremely front loaded especially this season

I believe 40 mill went to this season so that's actually good

He won't because he's selfish. Brady gave up money last offseason to help the Pats. Drew cares about two things, his stats and his money. Those two things are why the NFL will never be as fun as college ball.

Post was about a team that gets really good having to pay its best players alot or too much to retain. It costs those teams usually by being weaker overall.
Payton comment thrown in because I personnaly think he is a prick using his SELF INFLICTED suspension to hold us hostage for ANOTHER raise when he hasn't really done much since his last HUGE raise.
Not saying Payton isn't worth the money, I'm saying the way he got it sucks dick and I view him in a much lower light as a man of character. Don't really care what anyone else thinks, it was humiliating that a coach who has done what he did last year, can get a raise out of it!
I'll just leave this here:
You are a fricking moron.

Once again, Coaches have NO RECOURSE against the league. Players do.
There was LITERALLY NOTHING Payton could do. If he opens his mouth, he doesn't get re-instated.
You are dumb.
