I know a lot here don't like McNamara, but he brings up some great numbers on our futility as well as some potential targets who fill our needs perfectly.
Here's the quote that says it all on how bad off we are:
And I've been interested in going after Chase Budinger (who he lists as a target), but was worried about his defense. A good quote here:
I still do like Granger, who I think will be a nice stopgap and shouldn't cost too much in terms of trade pieces. Plus I'm not a huge AK47 fan if it takes a 3+ year deal, but it's definitely worth 5 minutes of your time.

So far this season, the Hornets have gotten a total of 10 three-pointers made from their quartet of young small forwards. That’s right, I said 10. In 28 games. When Ryan Anderson is off the court, teams just collapse the middle and there is less room for Lopez in the post and less space for Davis to rim run or work the baseline.

Defensively, he was average in most areas, but his isolation defense was terrific, as opponents shot just 29% against him in those situations.

Nice link.
I like Budinger and Brewer the best of all the FAs. The first three guys arent really 3pt shooters and they are too expensive for my tastes.
I dont know why Monty continues to go with Thomas/McGuire. They put up purgatory lines (0s across the board). Miller needs to see the floor and I think Aminu needs some more time- he can rebound, score in transition, and has potential on defense- but it appears that bridge has been burned.
Regardless, SF needs to be upgraded

What about Wilson Chandler as a possibility?

I like Chandler but he's been dealing with his own injury problems the past year and a half.

For me, besides Iggy, they all look like solid options with AK47 being my favorite. I'm just not that interested in shelling out that type of money and length of contract for the all star that's not one anymore.
Mike Dunleavy would also be another solid and cheap option. Sam Young would be a nice depth one too.

Yea seems that he no longer trusts Chief on defense and thus no play for AFA.

With the exception of last night, the screams of "No effort" have gone away since going with Thomas and McGuire. That's why they keep getting minutes. I guess Monty feels Miller isn't ready yet.
Of all the targets I consider realistic and attainable I guess I like the cheaper role players like Brewer the best. I'm a little wary of the draft reviews, several of them sound perfect yet they might last until 10? I guess Paul George lasted until 10, but he had the small school thing to overcome.

Miller was a second round pick for a reason. You can't expect much out of a second round rookie.

Good article. I really would like to pick up someone this season, even if it's a stop gap. We're not going to end up with a top five draft choice after this season (regardless of the tank threads . . . [plus, you heard it hear first, Shabazz will be a disappointment).
AK47 is what, 60 years old? There was a time though.
I do think Brewer or Budinger make sense as far as value is concerned. Either would improve this team considerably.

Whoooaaaaaaa . . . I was all about the brow. I just don't believe in intentionally losing games. And, clearly, righteousness won out, because 'da Brow plays for the Hornets now. Muthafrickin' karma . . .
