I have no interest in going to theaters anymore...

I think something may be wrong with me. I used to love movies in theaters...longer the better. Now, I can't sit there for 2.5 hours. I start getting distressed and anxious. I almost went go see Django then saw it was almost 3 hours...na.
I hope this isn't a part of getting old because life is going to suck. I'm not even old- late 20s.
Anyone else get this feeling- almost suddenly at some point in their life?

Yeah, when I hit about 30 a few years ago I just stopped really wanting to get out and go to a movie. And I used to go to 4-6 movies a month.
Now, the only time I go to see a movie is at Canal Place. I can relax, get assigned seating so I don't have to get there early, don't have to be there with riff raff and teenagers ruining the movie, and can have cocktail or two.

I've never really been a huge movie guy. The last 5 or 6 years prior to 2012 I think I saw MAYBE 2 movies in theaters a year, if that. Sometimes 1 or 0. Last year I went to probably 4 or 5, most of them by myself. I actually find that enjoyable, if I have a day off or something going to like a 2:30 movie. Nobody in there, no distractions, in and out.
But yeah, ticket prices are outrageous. Hell if you take a date it's gonna cost at least $25 or $30 after tickets and snacks.

the only reason I ever go now is if I know its a movie that will likely be ruined for me if I wait for dvd

I hardly ever go anymore either and I used to go every weekend. Although mine's due to the prices and the dickheads that talk/text through the whole thing.

I like watching at home too, I an get comfortable with a glass of wine and pause whenever I need to.

I heard Canal Place was excellent, I just don't think I have the patience anymore. It would have to be something engaging with maybe drinks/food.
I also don't like having to fight people in the theaters. I'm not the shy type that won't tell you to be quiet. I started going to the latest showings to avoid alot of that.
Still, even at the late showings...I rather just go to sleep.

Wait till you have kids. You'll learn to treasure any form of peace and quiet that you can get.

The prices are usually the dealbreaker for me
Why would i go spend almost $20 on tickets and snacks when i can watch the movie online, make popcorn at home, and get a bag of candy from Circle K for $1.75?

Why I love it at the house...I can watch for 40, get restless...go work on something then come back to it.
I watch more movies in pieces now than anything else.

I only go to matinees on Sunday morning

Yes. It's actually a struggle for me to go to the movies...and I'm 23.

Thirties...and I hardly go. Has to be something special I want to see on the big screen...otherwise with internet streams, instant on demand, netflix...I just don't feel the need to spend the money and be annoyed by all the teenagers texting/talking like morons during the movie.

Take extended lunch breaks and catch some flicks with a nearly empty theater.
I watched Skyfall a few weeks ago at noon on a Wed and there were 4 other people in the theater.

What bothers me is people who talk and cut up the whole time and aggravating arse kids.

Sometimes, if I REALLY want to see a certain film, I'll go to the theater by myself.

This is why when I go, I make a whole day of it. When the wife has a girls day I pay for the early bird movie and stay all day. I usually see movies that have been out a while so not many people are there.

I completely agree. It has become easier to skip out recently with movies making it to DVD/Blu Ray much quicker than they have in the past. I justify buying the blu-ray for around 17-20 bucks on Amazon because it is what it would cost me to buy a ticket and a bucket of popcorn and a soda anyway.

its natural to not want to put up with hte theatre crowd.
I've been to the theatre about 4 times in the last 6 years.
