Got a marlin 22 for christmas and it is not accurate outside if 10 yards. Is this normal? The gun shoots to the right a couple inches at about 20 yards. Do I need to send it back? Thanks in advance

Marlin is a great gun. Sounds like you need to learn to shoot.

You should be able to adjust the rifle sights.

You do realize they don't sight these things in at the factory right...? Get to adjusting son! It should make a dime sized group at 25 yards when you're done.

Mine was smoking beer cans at 25-30 yards right out of the box.

Take it and shoot from a rest at 25 and 50 yards.

Fire 10 rounds and find the center of your group, adjust your rear sight accordingly until the center of your group is where you're aiming.

Chances are though, this is user error. Is this your first time shooting? How experienced are you? Shooting to the right usually means you're jerking the trigger or gripping it too hard with your right hand (assuming you are right handed)

Got 4 model 60s and no issues with ours - iron sights or scoped.

This.

Bad thing is the OP may have a hard time believing cause in his mind he's not missing. Use a prop. Someone posted some sand bag types that their daughter was using with a pink .22 yesterday. That would be best but can be a lot of other things too. Just make sure gun doesn't move.

Most of my hunting growing up was ducks, dove,& squirrels so I didn't shoot a rifle much. To this day I'm far from "good" with a rifle. I'm lefty but shoot righty and I do tend to do that (jerk the trigger).

Even knowing dam well I have that tendency, it's still a bitch to overcome. I guess part of that is I seldom shoot rifles so no practice.

Turn the Marlin around and try, there's still time to save the Marlin name.

Definitely need to adjust that sight. I can hit a 6" steel plate at 100 yards with mine using iron sights.

It's all good bro. I shoot right handed but use my left eye. As long as you hit the target it's cool.

I didn't mean to come off as one. I didn't have to adjust my sight at all.
