It saved Shinn like $2 million in salary, so that's another $2 million in luxury.

Don't know if those are the exact numbers but its close.

Doesn't matter if it was a huge drop off in production or not. its what happens when your owner is broke.

in those two years

Chandler
$11,850,000
$12,600,000
------------
$24,450,000

Okafor
$10,538,937
$11,495,000
------------
$22,033,937

Total Savings = $2,416,063

At the time the team was living hand to mouth. A Dodgers scenario (unable to make payroll) was not far fetched.

Not sure where you got your numbers, but yearly difference was $2million between Chandler and Okafor. Chandler's salary would have put the team in the luxury tax- why they tried to deal him to OKC for expirings. So Okafors contract saved another $2million.

The final savings were about $8million with luxury tax included.
