I've been impressed at how Monty has been able to get Anderson so many good looks when he is the only offensive threat every night.
As raw as he is, I think we have a better chance at points with the ball in Davis' hands down low than we do with the ball in Grievis' hands up top.
For as bad as our talent is, we should be trying to move the ball around a lot more than we actually do.
We just had a career night from our center for frick's sake and still only scored 75 points at home.

Monty Williams once won the Hornets a playoff game in Los Angeles. What happened afterwards don't matter.

don't you dare question a coach who has led his team to a 26-66 record over the last 2 years so far. last year his free pass was the ownership situation and this year his free pass is "injuries" as if no other coach in the NBA has to deal with the same problem. I want the guy to succeed, but in the two and a half years he has been here he's proven absolutely nothing and his end of game play calling is awful. I don't understand the love fest that a very tiny portion of Hornets fans (particularly on this board) have with a coach who's never proven anything to be worth the praise. by the way some talk of him, you would think he was the next Phil Jackson or Gregg Popovich lol.

I guess you forgot about his first season when he actually had some talent

yea he had Chris Paul for 80 games after coming off of an injury the year before and David West and finished 10 games above .500. any coach would look good with Chris Paul on the team.

We also lost West for a good part of that season. If we have him in that playoff series, we beat the Lakers.
We're rebuilding. It doesn't happen overnight. It'll take a few seasons

The thing is though, we have to show progress. If we want to consider Gordon as aprt of the nucleus, then we have to show we are capable of getting better within in the next 2 seasons because he can opt out before his fourth.

oh no doubt man and I never said it did. however the endless amount of excuses made for Monty by SOME are getting very old. Especially considering the guy has never proven himself as a coach to begin with to have earned that type of hype. Monty's play calling particularly at the end of close games have been absolutely horrendous this season and last. that's my biggest beef with him. Its not even so much about the amount of wins vs losses, I'm more concerned with his decision making and the fact that there have been ZERO improvements whatsoever. Lets hope that by the start of next season he can turn this thing around.

Well he can't see any progress if he isn't playing with the team. If we don't improve with him then we can worry

118 points per 100 possessions in crunch time, last 24 seconds of a game where it is either tied or within 2, during the 6 years Chris was in NOLA.
The next highest, 107 (Magic) and 104 (Blazers).

you hit it dead on. we can't rely on Gordon (who's never been reliable to begin with) to come in and save the day. Monty has a better roster this year than he did last year and the team hasn't shown any improvements whatsoever. if anything they have gotten a lot worse. that's a concern.

Those excuses are fair IMO, at least until we see what we can do with the player that we're trying to build around

I agree on Vasquez, not so sure with Davis. I would rather see Rivers get the ISO possessions before Vasquez.

Agree. Ideally I would like to see more motion, but that requires most players to be comfortable and competent with the ball. They just don't have good ball handlers at any position on the team. Davis is one of the top 2 or 3 and he's a 19 year old pf.

Unfortunately, that center is Robin Lopez and not Shaq :/
Big problem tonight was shot distribution: Rivers/Vasquez 29FGA, Anderson 9FGA. That should never happen when Anderson should be able to get a West/Hibbert mismatch throughout the game.

LOL
This roster is better long term, but not right now.

yea but man every single coach and team in the NBA deals with injuries each and every season. that excuse is legit if you're competing for a title and someone like LeBron or your star player gets hurt, but we're talking about Monty improving the team as a whole and his decision making late in games. Even if you take Eric Gordon out of the picture this year and last, the Hornets have an overall better roster this season than they did last season and they've only gotten worse.

No they haven't.
And it's not a better roster than last year.

Of course we have to rely on Gordon. He's the best piece we got in the CP3 trade and we're supposed to be holding around him

That's debatable

man our leading scorer last year was MARCO BELINELLI lol
the roster this year is better than last years roster right now.

But very few have to deal with their only good player only playing 9 games over a year and a half. Its been a very extreme situation

Jack>General
Marco>rivers
Ariza>whatever is happening right now
Anderson/AD and Lopez have the hands up on last year. The bench this year is WAAAAAAY worse than last year, IMO.
