What are you accustomed to? You mentioned mixed crown drinks. Crown, being Canadian is going to have a different flavor than Dickel (TN) or. Maker's (KY). I recently bought a bottle of. Dickel No. 12 and enjoy it. I consider it a value for its price. Give us some more details of what you enjoy. Welcome to the thread.

Get some Buffalo Trace. It is good enough to drink on its own, but inexpensive enough that if you don't care for it then you can mix it.

Bourbon wise, what is y'all's opinion of the best beginner sipping.
I would start in the $20-$30 price range, and something light in color. Buffalo Trace, Basil Hayden's, Four Roses Small Batch, Gentleman Jack.

Guys in BR, where can I find some WL12/107 so I can make some 50/50, been to a few places and they were all out.

Weller 12 is everywhere in BR. Good luck on the 107. All mine comes from outside LA

Looks like a new NAS single barrel called "walking stick" from buffalo trace is on the way...
Interesting considering that they're having trouble keeping up with demands already...

Yeah only experience really is with crown mixed.
I'll look at getting one of those four that were mentioned. Did hear some good things about Basil Hayden as well.

I cut my teeth on it, so to speak. You should do fine with it. You can go on the rocks at first then work your way to a small handful of "rocks".

Yea one of those 4 for sure. If you can find it bowman brothers I find is easy to drink and lower priced.
I'd be willing to bet there is zero 107 in Louisiana. All mine has come from outside LA as well.

All of the suggestions you've received are good, but I'll add one. 1792 is a very easy sipper that I recommend to people getting into bourbon.
I haven't tried it yet, but Martin's currently has a single barrel pick of it.

What is the contraption you have your EC in? I've been seeing pics of it in this thread and I'm damn curious.

Agree! 1792 is really good and under $30
Like all new bourbon drinkers...start off with lots of ice, even add a splash of filtered water if you must. But then skip the water and taper down on the ice and you're golden. I will also add Eagle Rare 10 year to the mix.... that stuff is amazing and for $30 a bottle is an excellent sipper! Buffalo Trace is and will always be my go to. Like previous poster's have said...it's good on it's own, but you don't feel bad adding a mixer because the price is right and the taste is excellent! Welcome to the party...I'm sort of new here too...and I think I'm the lone female I love me some bourbon and I've learned a ton from the guys here!

Spirit aerator
I have a wine aerator and it works the same...at least for me so if you have one of those lying around use that. The spirit aerator is only about $20 on amazon though.
and you have to get one of these....it's super secret club requirements
Glencairn whiskey glass

it's the opposite here in SC. OWA 107 and the special reserve is easily found, but the 12 is nonexistent. Have always wondered why that is.
