Saw it on ESPN a few minutes ago & the only article I could find is this Video

Basically, RG3 isn't really black because he has a white fiancée & he's a GOP member. Which is a joke because all black dudes date white women now...duh

I didn't know if this should be posted here are on the poli board, so I chose not to post it.

Stuff like this is embarrassing, and of course he is now trending on twitter. The sad thing is a lot of black people on twitter are agreeing with him

quote:

@RobParkerESPN you were dead on about RGIII & other athletes who shy away from their blackness. It's unnecessary & pathetic to do so

quote:

@RobParkerESPN You spoke truth, just because you are black, does not mean you are black. It's about embracing & accepting your blackness.

quote:

Agree with @pushpromotionz about @robparkerespn realness. People hate the truth!

quote:

@RobParkerESPN I respect u for speaking ur mind on #firsttake discussions like that are needed in modern America. I salute u Brah

quote:

Folks pretend they want the truth spoken on TV but get scared & uncomfortable when it's spoken. I get it if @RobParkerESPN was 2 deep 4 u

quote:

@RobParkerESPN You are the true definition of a Real Black-Man. Ivy League guy that is still humble and real. Thanks for being real everyday

Someone on First Take intentionally saying something idiotic to get people riled up? Shocking.

The article from Black Sports Online in the OP is outstanding. They talk about this issue, but also talk about ESPN and their commentators trying to make names for themselves instead of being analysts of sports. Short article and worth the read.

Anyone who watched the segment knows that OP misquoted Parker. He never put any label on RGII, all he did was wonder what thyp of brother RGIII is.

At least he didn't do anything crazy, like claim the media hypes him up because they want a black QB to succeed. That would be grounds for termination.

Wow, Rob Parker is a moron. I sort of heard it earlier, and SAS and the host both seemed offended.

Secondly, RG3 can do better than this. I realize he looks like Kel from Good Burger

But, he is RG3. He is a bad mother fricker. He can get better women.

Third, I want to do the host of First Take.

Just watched this shite
How can someone bring something like this on television? WOW
And wtf is the relevance of it? what was the context? (not that it really matters but I don't see how a conversation can go from will RG3 play this week to corn brotha or wtf ever that was)

ETA: nvm about that last part, just saw what the whole thing was about.

I hope RGIII continues to do what got him this far and becomes a role model for all kids, black or white.

He's a class act

this really pissed me off for some reason. parker and likeminded people basically say black people should have the same beliefs and whatnot, but then cry racism whenever a stereotype is brought up.

I think its ironic that Parker of all people is calling someone out for being an uncle tom.
