Now, everybody said I was crazy to think that Texas A&M...

...joining the SEC could hurt our recruiting in E. Texas. BS!! So far, we are ranked 6th in Rivals with NO Texas kids on our list. ZERO...NONE!! Now, you can easily see that over the last 5-7 years we average 3-4 (and occasionally more) kids from Texas. In addition, Texas A&M is ranked 7th...for now...their highest ranking in several years per Rivals. That is all.

their recruiting success has nothing to do with them joining the SEC this year. They would still have sumlin as their coach, a heisman winning qb, and probably be 11-1, if not undefeated if they had stayed in the big 12. And besides, putting a beatdown on texas and that inexcusable defense would have paid even more recruiting dividends than the sec talking point has, easily. texas sucking + a good A&M team = a lot tougher texas recuiting for us, it doesnt matter who's in what conference.

This is based on them getting commitments from 34 kids because they had a tiny class last year

besides Seals-Jones, who else were we after from Texas? Please break it down for me? I'm sure you are Shea or Mike or Gino....

Christian LaCouture is really a TX kid. This is not a strong year in TX and the staff only went after a few of the big names. You rather the staff reach for TX kids over bringing in studs like Herron, Neal, and Gilmore?

Pretty sure this our biggest OOS year ever. Also, this is a Texas down year. Even UT doesn't have as many Texas kids at they usually do.

quote:...no...but I'd like to steal chips from E. Texas. We've gotten some excellent bargains from there. In the past, we were the closest option for those kids that wanted to play big time ball in the SEC...now...College Station is closer. TAMU joining the SEC and being competitive affects LSU more than any other team in the SEC...by far.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc?
Sheeeesh...and based upon one season / signing class?

In regards to el duderino's statement, I agree with all of it.....well, except the part about having the heisman winning qb. If they do not beat Bama, he does not win it, and if A&M is not in the SEC, they do not play Bama. So, the heisman part did have something to do with joining the SEC.

I think TAMU joining the SEC is going to affect LSU in the long run more than Bama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn etc.
Seeing that LSU/TAMU are basically neighbors and all...
It's not really that much of a stretch.

I call BS. ATM being in the SEC is a boost to recruiting just like their coach and QB is a boost.

anybody who thinks Texas A&M joining the SEC didn't help them in recruiting and didn't hurt us is kidding themselves

Christian Lacouture
Kyrion Parker
Rickey Seals-Jones
Those are big targets, and big misses. Also depending on who you want to believe, Quinn has been staring and salivating in the direction of College Station for awhile now. This is a kid we all thought would be one of our first 2014 guys committed. Family are BIGTIME LSU fans. Now we hear the services say, "We'll its a long time till NSD."
I can pretty much guarantee we can hold our own in East Texas recruiting...if we are talking about Defensive Players. But elite offensive talent here and elsewhere? It's hard to ignore just how shiteous we are, and its easy for A&M to make a far better pitch.
Our ineptitude makes it incredibly easy for TAMU to recruit elite talent on that side of the ball.

Anyone who knows anything about recruiting should have seen this coming. I don't think you are crazy but I do think you have a strong grasp for the obvious. ATM having a great season and Heisman winning QB certainly helped their recruiting efforts along w 34 scholarships. Here's your +1 for the day!

Congrats, good thing you don't over react or anything. LSU got Texas guys in the 80's-90's when we were bad and A&M was good. Just off the top of my head we got Kendall Cleveland, Odell Beckham (sr) and probably the best NFL player we've produced in the last 20 year, Alan Faneca. LSU is good shape with 3-4 big recruits in Texas in 2014, if we don't get any of them of 2015 guys, then worry about it. But does it really matter where the guys are coming from as long as we get them?

The 2 are not mutually exclusive. A&M recruiting better will hurt Texas and OU more. News flash, A&M already recruited mostly Texas guys and had some pretty good players. Texas produces roughly 300 D1 players a year. There are plenty to go around. If Bama, UGA and tOSU can go in there and get guy's, so can LSU. Wait until 2014.

quote:I dont think anyone is saying LSU is finished for good in Texas, we will still be a stong presence there. One of the big attractions for LSU/Bama/etc. in recruiting is the chance to play in the SEC, the nation's strongest conference. Now TX kids can do that AND stay home in-state. Best of both worlds.
Bama, UGA and tOSU can go in there and get guy's, so can LSU.
LSU will be fine and so will Bama/Arky/UGA, etc but we will all absolutely lose some kids now to ATM that would have been leaving TX in years past.
