UPDATE - Playoffs -- What HAS to Happen This Weekend

Contrary to popular belief, this ride is far from over! I may be labeled a "sunshine pumper", but so be it. I prefer to be tagged as an eternal optimist, and here's why:
The fact is we are NOT out of contention yet and only 2 (yes, I said 2) things ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAPPEN to keep us in the mix beyond this upcoming weekend. Trust me, I have carefully carried out my research.
Here's what is absolutely necessary in Week 15.
Saints over the Bucs @ home in the Dome (obviously)
Packers handle the Bears in Chicago
**After even further review, a Steelers win over the Cowboys is not absolutely necessary, but highly desired -- if Cowboys win, we have to have the Giants & Seahawks lose out & the Skins win out (all extremely unlikely) -- the good news is that this is a late game and it's never a bad deal to get even more sauced in the Quarter and root against Jerry & Co.!**
Any other losses by Seattle, Washington, NYG are certainly helpful, but wins by any of these are not ultimately damning (at least not this weekend), and some wins could actually be beneficial to our cause.
Minn/St. Louis matchup is irrelevant as long as remaining weeks play out in our favor.
I've seen other threads stating that the Skins have to lose 2 out of 3. This is not true. There are actually scenarios where the Skins could win all 3, win the East, and the Saints still go. I personally prefer the Skins losing 2 out of 3 and the Giants winning the division b/c it's obviously an easier route.
Having said all of this, let's take this one week at a time and not get ahead of ourselves -- because next week the Cards MUST upset the Bears (although anything can happen in the NFL)
Point is, it's certainly not over, our players have been exonerated, and as long as Who Dat Nation shows up Sunday, we still have a fighting chance at salvaging this season and sticking it to Goodell.
Play with this if you're a doubter -- my personal best case scenario has the Bears losing out, Seahawks & Giants winning 2 of 3, and Skins losing 2 of 3 -- The Steelers' win over the Cowgirls on Sunday is a MUST under this scenario

"Patrick Peterson, distraught over his performance against Seattle, took matters into his own hands yesterday against the Chicago Bears, intercepting 4 passes while returning two for touchdowns. He also added 3 punt return touchdowns, and one kickoff return touchdown..."

Sorry man but I've just gotten my hopes up too much this season for those kind of win things to happen. If they happen, great. But I'm not holding my breathe Bc this roller coaster has been too much

I guess I'm in. That last loss stopped me from looking at any scenarios. And the cards have to eventually win one, right?

Even if we play lights out the rest of the season we're not making the playoffs. You really think Goodell would let that happen, especially after yesterday?

What harm is there in clinging to a shred of hope?

I don't mind you being an eternal optimist. It's healthy both mentally and physically to view the World in such a manner. And I appreciate where you are coming from. And now that I've read what you have to say, I see where it's still a possibility. And for a brief moment, just now, just a few moments ago, I had hope. And briefly I was looking forward to this weekend's game. And for giving me that hope, I say to you, GO frick YOURSELF!

I'm just going to the game on Sunday have a few beers, get a little rowdy, enjoy some free time with my brother, a couple friends and be grateful for having a professional football team to root for.
Live in the moment people, when it comes down to it watching the Saints on Sundays shouldn't be a live or die situation. I know for some it has become that and honestly I don't blame you because I have been there, but live in the moment and enjoy yourself this Sunday.
Happy Holidays Saints Talk.
