Spending the weekend in New Orleans and looking for a nice place to have a dinner for two on Saturday night.
Something pretty nice but not overly expensive. Good atmosphere and can enjoy a few drinks. Maybe a lesser known place not many outsiders would know about.

From the description he gave, that is a good choice, although they are still very popular.

agree but it's mainly locals, tourist don't really know about it unless they get a good concierge

It's been a few years since I've eaten there, but the last time, it seemed like more out of towners than "locals." Not that such a thing should automatically be seen as a knock on the place.

Don't know that you're going to find a good place in the Quarter that not many folks know about. If it's good, people know about it.
As mentioned in the oyster thread, this is a great time to be eating oysters, so I'd recommend a place that's serving them if you like oysters.
Muriel's fits your description except that it's popular. It's reasonably priced and you can get a 3 course dinner for a certain price there. Nice location and atmosphere. Seance bar in the restaurant is good for drinks.

Emeril's NOLA would fit the bill. Casual-upscale and very reasonable for the quarter.

Pelican Club - more locals than most since it's on a side alley. Very good, and the prix fixe menu is very reasonable.
Cafe Amelie - away from the thick crowds of Decatur and Canal St, this gem is quaint cafe with a wonderful patio. If the weather is good, this place is great and fits your recommendation. Cheaper than Irene's, Pelican Club, Sylvain, and Muriel's, etc.

Eat Nola. Corner og dumaine and daphene. No corkage fee. Bring your own beer or wine. This place is great but still relatively unknown (like Irene's 15 years ago)

I will be staying in the FQ on Sat night and found that many of the places mentioned booked. Most were wide open at 545 or 9pm though.
How about GW Finns. This place is consistently good and seems to be off the radar for most locals.
Iris is another that you may like.
Despite what some trolls think, Sylvain, for what it is, is a very good restaurant if you don't mind the hipsters.
