Wow, how pissed off is Sonny Dykes right now? If he stays a week later, he gets offered his dream job.

He must really hate Lubbock
if you'd ever been there you'd hate it too.

Is Tech? Why?

Petrino is right up Tech's alley. They hired Bobby Knight and Billy Gillispie after their BS. Petrino is in the same mold.
Plus there are tons of loose women in Lubbock, so it's perfect for him.

Born and raised there. Alum. Dad is a legendary HC at TTU. Its his home.

HIGHLY doubt that he would prefer Tech over Cal.

I understand being desperate to leave Lubbock, but for Cincy?
Maybe he felt the administration was lurking over his shoulder after the sideline incident with the assistant?
I mean, this is the school that had to deal with the Leach and Gillespie situations.

He told people mid season that if he could live anywhere, it would be in the Bay area.

I think it's just a stopping point for him to jump back into the SEC in a few years if he can.

I can't remember if it was a thread on here or a conversation I had IRL with someone trying to explain Texas Tech and Lubbock to people who aren't familiar with the Texas dynamic.
I know he went there, but still.

Maybe the headset jerking episode brought him more grief from the AD than he expected.
Maybe he wanted out and took the first opportunity that presented itself>

Definitely surprised by this move but then again Tubbs was quoted as they would have to carry me away from Ole Miss in a pine box , then BOOM he's coaching at Auburn.

does this have anything to do with him pimp slapping one of his GA's the other day? sounds like TT is genuinely surprised so i doubt it.

He said earlier in the year that his favorite part of the country is the Bay area. Pretty sure he is THRILLED to have that job.
It truly is a great place to live. Gotta put up the Cali weirdo's and all, but I loved it out there too.
