So, from Tech's perspective, ULM has much more to gain from playing Tech than Tech has to gain from playing ULM.
Absolutely. We are doing just fine.

We will see how fine Tech is doing next year when they lose Dykes and 31 seniors. Not being hateful, I'm a Tech Grad myself but I don't have the red and blue glasses.

Tech is actually being pretty effective spinning this situation.

You can keep saying that but its just not true. There were 3 non AQ teams that looked like they could jump into the top 16.
They knew they could, but it was not a sure thing. That's why everyone had to wait to see what happened. The wait is what cost Tech a bowl game. They needed to know that the Liberty Bowl and the HOD Bowl were not going to be available. They found that out too late in the day.

I was saying Tech is doing just fine without scheduling ULM. We need to do better, but I don't see how scheduling ULM would bring that about.

Tech is doing a great spin job. I've had friends from MTSU and Cincinatti call me and ask how we got "screwed"
Bravo
You was double crossed

I remember going to the Tech and ULM games as a kid and the stadiums would be packed. Something Tech can't do now at 9-2.

We played them in a 4 game series in the late 90's and the first 2 games were well-attended, but the last 2 were mostly just Tech fans.

Your a Tech Grad but bleed purple & gold, right?! That's pathetic! Alumni like you are what's wrong w/ our fan base.

I actually think the Tech AD is continuing to cause harm. He pissed off the Indy Bowl and now he has pissed off the Liberty Bowl. Bowl people are chummy with one another.
It might be best for Tech if he just stopped talking.

Van De Velde is a fricking tard. He keeps changing his story. He does need to shut up. People are starting to think its the bowls fault, now he needs to sit down and shut up before he gets caught in a lie

one more time
it was pretty much a given Boise or the MAC winner was going to make the BCS once UCLA fell to Stanford.
BVDV basically put all his marbles into hoping Texas would upset Kansas State in Manhattan. Coming form the Big 12, I know that winning at KState is tough and Bill Snyder has owned Mack Brown's arse at home.
It WAS NOT WORTH THE RISK.
The odds were greater than 75% a non AQ was going to get in.
As for the HOD, 9 Big 12 teams are bowl eligible which meant it was going to be filled. It was a near impossibility they would pass over Texas Tech, Baylor, or Okie Light.
Trying to get the Liberty/HOD was asinine based on the things that needed to happen.
It was NEVER a good gamble, was always likely to fail and it bit him in the arse hard when it did.
and one more time, had the Liberty actually promised to take La Tech, they would have gone ahead and given the formal invitation just like all the other small bowls trying to snag a non contracted team do.
Your AD is either full of shite and lying to you or flat out incompetent.
Considering he pulled all the strings he could to move the A&M game to later in the year to help sell more tickets (and I've talked to many A&M admin people who 100% believe this was the case) I lean towards him being full of shite.

THIS. Read my prior comments. Information was provided to BVDV about other bowl slots, is was ignored or not trusted, a calculated gamble was made and it didn't pan out. This Tech team didn't deserve this.

Tech needed 3 things to happen to get either Liberty or HOD Bowl:
1. #21 NIU to beat #16 Kent St (no BCS bid)
2. Oklahoma to beat TCU (get BCS bid)
3. Kansas St to beat Texas (get BCS bid)
By Saturday night, it had all happened like they wanted. If any of those 3 things didn't happen, they would have gone to the Independence Bowl. But they all happened.
The fly in the ointment was that NIU jumped from #21 to #16 and made the BCS game, knocking Oklahoma out of a BCS game. That shifted every Big XII team down 1 notch and Iowa St was invited to the Liberty Bowl.

Tech Grad but bleed purple & gold, right
I've been going to LSU games since I was 5 years old. So yep, I like LSU football. I also go to Tech games and support my alma mater.
I'm also a realist when it comes to what each schools atheletic teams are capable of.

what's wrong w/ our fan base.
What's wrong with our fan base is Tech scheduling a bunch of opponents no one cares about. I don't know what they are trying to do, but the empty seats for the last decade and a half speak for themselves.

Hey you dumb arse Techsters. Do you mind not fricking posting towards my name when arguing with each other?
