Jesus dude, remember it's just a game.
I know, but it's a game that I get WAY too emotionally invested. I love watching college football, it's like a soap opera, and there always needs to be a good villain.

I think you are wrong. Bama was 2-1 against the only good teams they played, and it took horrible coaching blunders by Richt and Miles for them to beat those teams. Brian Kelly is a good coach who isn't likely to make similar mistakes. I think the Irish have a chance.

In fact, of all the teams ranked in the top 10, if I were to pick the easiest team to beat, I would pick the Irish. I'm guessing the Vegas line will open at around Bama -10 1/2 and may eventually reach -14. There will be more money bet on this game than any college game in history.
I think Bama is overrated. They have played 3 good teams and all could have beat them... one did. Bama pulled it out against LSU and got some favorable mistakes by UGA. Notre Dame actually matches up well against Bama. I think the Irish can win, but would admit the Tide should be favored. Notre Dame's defense is VERY good especially against the run. If Notre Dame's offense can move the ball like UGA, A&M, or LSU, they will win, but ND's offense has not been great. Don't kid yourself, and think Bama is going to dominate this game. IF the spread is 14 or more, I will bet ND for sure, and I'm not much of a betting man.

That wasn't what I was saying. My belief is that LSU would have ended up in a lesser bowl with a lower payout with a Georgia win than a Bama win. I could be totally wrong in that train of thought but never suggested the winner of the BCS gets a bigger payout.
I apologize for misreading that, but the thread is about ND v Bama, however the payout for the Cap One is 4.25M, the Chick Fil A 3.35M, the money gets split with the conference anyway, so the extra share is minimal, plus i don't think the outcome of the SEC CG mattered. LSU is going to get hosed.

I do not understand the hatred for other teams. I bear no ill-will against any other college team. Plus, I like the SEC's streak and want it to continue. Definitely pulling for Bama in the championship.

You don't have to pull for anyone, just don't watch. The fact of the matter is, the national media HATES the SEC in general. And while we may not like our crimson rivals, the reality is them losing to ND would absolutely big picture NOT be good for LSU.
And as someone else said, all SEC schools benefit financially when we win the NCG. Why would you want to have ND keep ALL of the money that would be divvied up to an entire conference. Not to mention the national media Irish love fest for the next 9 months.
finally, we get cred because Bama, FLA, GA and of course LSU ARE VERY GOOD. We may not like each other but that fact we're all in the SEC is why we get the recruits, and why the SEC dominates.
I'm not emotionally "pulling" for either team, but I sure as heck know that a Bama win benefits LSU and the SEC on paper much more than an Irish victory.

I don't think so. It will be a decent game. Bama will probably win, but not by 14+. I personally think the game could go either way with a score of 24-17 or 28-20 because of the way ND matches up with Bama, but Vegas will probably put the game as Bama around -8.5 or -9.5.

I hate both so much, but I'll go for the conference.

Notre Dame and Bama match up very well. I'm an LSU lifer, and I think the Irish defense will make them play. Any shot at Saban and the Gumps trumps "SEC" loyalty. Geaux Irish! ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconusaflagsmiley.gif)

I would prefer to see the Irish win from an individual team stand point, cause I really don't like seeing Bama win. But, I work internationally, with people from all over the US (and the world), and I really like seeing how much they hate that the SEC is so dominant in football.
And then there would be that added bonus of wittnessing Lou Holtz spitting all over himself every time Mark May would bring up an Alabama win.

It does nothing but hurt LSU for Bama to win NC after NC. There is nothing good to be gained from Bama winning NCs. Go Irish!
What if lets say ND beat Bama handily, then next season we clearly have the better team like this year but we stumble again. Now if our conference is perceived as strong then we would leap over the oregons, the ou and texas but if we are weak those other team would get in over us. Perceive conference strength still matters when we need to obtain seedings. In fact people will look at how our conference will do in bowl games this year to pre-rank us next year.
People say pre-ranking does not not matter but they are close enough to the BCS that it does matter.
Perception is the key and right now if you take the pulse of the nations. No team would really want to play LSU again at the level we are playing. Why? Because other then our hiccup the last 2 min, we beat the shite out of Bama. A feat that is only matched and surpassed by ATM , a team that we beat handily in THEIR house.
So whoever get the pick of us would be considered unlucky and if we blow whoever we play out of the water, then we will get ranked higher at the beginning of the year which will in turn give us a higher seed and CHANCE to get in over anyone else.
