The Daily Camera, which has reported accurate information on the Colorado coaching search, is reporting the Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter, BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall, Utah State head coach Gary Anderson, and San Jose State head coach Mike MacIntyre are indeed candidates for the Colorado head coaching job.

Really good names on that list...but sure seems like a place coaches go to never be heard from again.

I'd rather coach Kentucky than Colorado, train wreck full of hippies.

Why would any of them want that job?

Colorado was a decent program at one time. Might be appealing to build them back up.

They refuse to put money in that program. That, with the worst recruiting base in the country makes that job impossible.

Bronco Mendenhall would be taking a step back going to Colorado. BYU is a better program.
I think any of the other 3 could potentially be successful there, with Anderson being the safest bet. But no one will be successful at Colorado until they get more administrative support instead of being treated like a necessary evil as they currently are.

Colorado could be a good job for the right coach. Plus Boulder is a beautiful town.

They should take Rick back. He likes to party.

How was Colorado ever good? I know they were at one time, but what factors contributed to that? Did they recruit Texas really well at some point, or have a remarkable coach?

Could be wrong, but I think OU and UT were down. This led them to get more Texas recruits.

In the early 1990s their facilities were state-of-the-art, but they have not improved them at all since then. That and they did have some great coached and became kind of a cool school to go to for awhile. Now they just put no money into the program. I've heard they also put absurd regulations on their recruiting practices.

LSU and USC were also down. They were dipping into NOLA and southern Cali as well. When LSU and USC started locking down their home territory, Tenn and Colorado, and to a lesser extent Nebraska, lost a lot of their pipelines.
Colorado had other significant issues that hampered them.

That, and Colorado's coach at the time, Bill McCartney had successful pipeline of Southern California Gang Bangers to Boulder.
