No way would I match that offer, I would tell him there's the door, and good luck. Go out and find a offensive minded coach, and make keeping Chavis part of the deal.

What? He was always going to leave. He had no intentions of staying at LSU.

Guys take the p&g glasses off. Not every body wants to come live in baton rouge. After Cholly we had never had a coach last more than 5 years here. If anything he has brought stability to the program that we never had.

If he did leave we would have coaches lined up trying to get this job. We are full of talent and got plenty of money. LSU is a coaches dream job. Why do think Saban has always regretted leaving?

I agree that LSU would have absolutely no trouble attracting qualified candidates. FOr some reason, a lot of people on the board still believe that the LSU AD is inhabited by the same yokels who dominated the place in the early 1990's. That ain't Joe Dean in the AD building. Our last two hires both won NC's, right? No reason to suspect we couldn't hire another good coach. A lot of these people are just speaking from ancient, ingrained fear born of the Archer/Hallman era.

First go look at Allevas track record of any coach he has hired. Dismal. Second you cant say last two coaches won a title, then say well les backed into the ship, won with sbans players and is a lucky sob.

Don't know because there are not many better than him looking for a job. I would hate to see him go anywhere.

Don't have any links.

Who are these coaches????

Really? You don't think every coach that isn't at a school named Bama, USC, Oregon, ND wouldn't want to come here? Hell it's a ready made program!

Hell I bet Jimbo Fisher would think very hard about taking the job and he's at a top ten program.

Never want a head coahced forced into keeping someone on staff. That is ludicrous, and if that happens it means we didnt find a good coach.

Of coarse everyone knows this but when he fell on his face in the NFL that LSU job looked pretty damn good.

Was Saban at Michigan State better than Les is right now??? You never know who is "better" until you take the chance and hand over the keys to this ferrari. Golden, Peterson, Patterson, Shaw. Those just off the yop of my head would be hires that are possible for this program and have potential to keep this program at the top.

Ummm, pretty sure that Miles kept Jimbo, right? Give the new coach the same option with respect to Chavis.

Anyway, I feel that I am debating the history of Hogwart's. This is all make believe. LOL.

Mile kept jimbo yes. But it doesnt mean that was part of the contract. That would be stupid to not let your head coach have total control.

quote:

In 2006, Alleva and his sons were involved in a boating accident which left Alleva with an injured head. His son, J.D., was charged with operating a boat while impaired after refusing to give a blood sample for testing. Three officers smelled alcohol on him hours after the incident.

I guess he did hire cutcliffe even though it was the same year he took the LSU job. Im just saying the guy hasnt always made the best decisions. The lacrosse incident, the coach that gave players roids. The dude is tarnished.

Maybe he is pushing for more money and using Arky as a bargaining chip. That's all I can think of. With his kids the age they are Les isn't going anywhere for one reason. Arkansas and that recruiting base is another. This is a non story. He just needs some more money.
