Staff isn't issue, bats are we saw that in last years playoffs. Pitching was way above avg and hitting completely disappeared

Bats didn't show for the playoffs, but the pitching gave up some big games to Detroit and was on the wrong side of a pitching duel in a few others.
Point being, most teams (Angels, Tigers, Rays, soon to be Rangers) will be trotting up 3 front line guys as their 1,2,3.

I still like CC, Kuroda, Pettite in a 7 game series
If Pineda can regain form then he would be a front line starter and Hughes is reminding me of AJ in that if there is one thing consistent about him is his inconsistency.
Only game they were rocked in vs Det was game 4 where they lost 8-1, rest of series went 6-4 in 12, 3-0, 2-1....
Point being pitching was good enough to win last year but not hitting.
Angels will have Wilson and Weaver after losing Haren/Santana
Texas has Yu/Holland/Dempster I assume
Rays just have ridiculous depth on their staff, I doubt any staff can match them
Det has Verlander, Scherzer, and Smyly
I do agree that they need some youth and someone to step up as ace as they can't just rely on CC. Hopefully Pineda can bounce back and become ace 1A

Now, if Pineda can bounce back and be a #2 I'd like the rotation better. Kuroda and Petitte as a 3/4 is about where they need to be at this point in their career. Hughes, Phelps, Nova... frick them.
Angels or Texas will possibly have Greinke in their rotation. If not, they will make a play for a big arm.
Detroit has Fister too.

Sucks that Betances and Banuelos flopped last season. Hopefully they can be the youth the Yanks seek.

I'm high on Hughes I think he can be a solid #2 or 3 as he showed over second half of last season. First month and a half his ERA was up over 8 and I believe in June/July has was in lower 3's.
Nova won't be anything more than innings eater #5 IMO
Phelps showed some promise last year posting a sub 4 era in spot duty and long relief.
Yankees don't have a true #2 but they have Pettite/Kuroda as great 3/4's

re-sign means to sign again, resign means to give up a position. An important difference

Good for Ichiro. A lot of baseball fans here in Japan thought he might come back and finish up his career here.

After Cano hit no Home Runs in the All Star Game home Run Derby he looked like someone let the air out of him. I do not know if he was embarrassed or lost confidence but after the All Star Game he was different then before the All Star Game.
