Sean Payton - Dallas Related

So, has everyone here faced the reality that Sean Payton is willing to take the Dallas job and waiting for it to come available? Say what you want about negotiation leverage, but clearly he could have signed the same deal he signed the first time with N.O. Instead he is choosing to wait on the Garrett experiment to end. Congrats on recent success, but it's still the Cowboys and no money can overcome the lure of hoisting the Lombardi as coach of the league's most prolific franchise.

I'm sure Bree's would have liked to have known about this before signing his deal.

what makes you think he would ever even have the chance to get close to the Lombardi in Dallas? Romo would rape Payton's coaching career. He isn't that stupid

And Jerry Jones still owns them, and Romo still QBs for them

Assuming Lombardi's are part of Sean's decision making process, what in the name of god makes you think he stands a better chance of winning one with Romo + Dallas as opposed to Brees + New Orleans?

The Steelers or Patriots will have a HC job open?

Sean Payton's next contract with Saints will have same end date as Drew Brees's contract. Payton doesn't want to coach another QB besides Brees.
I expect Payton to move to Dallas front office after he is done with Saints.

So why not go ahead and sign?

Typical response I expected, glad to get it out of the way early. But it's not like he hasn't had experience with Jones and Romo. Why waste 2 more years while Brees falls from his prime when the coaching opportunity of a lifetime awaits.
edit - will likely await once we shitcan Garrett.

Drew Brees is 14 months older than Romo. Great post all around.

Evidenced by what Master Chicken? His haste to ink a deal with New Orleans since becoming a "free agent?" Seems pretty clear he could have signed the same deal if that was truly his intent.

I can honestly see this happening. Sean will be coaching the saints as long as Brees is still here. He would have to be nuts to give up coaching a first ballot hall of famer.

Yeah, he has leverage to make a shite load more money, but he's just going to go ahead and take less out of the goodness of his heart.

Favorite team:

Biography: Just like to get my Dallas Cowboys on.
go get your boys on a dallas board
How many playoff wins does this prolific franchise have in the past 15 years? I forgot

I guess if I were a Saints fan I wouldn't acknowledge life after Brees either, but franchises and coaches do continue playing once a certain quarterback hangs it up or moves on. Which goes to my point that while he may have strong feelings for Brees, long-term prospects/prestige/quality-of-life/likelihood of not being murdered on any given day are much better for him in Dallas than in New Orleans. And you will all have to stomach such fact when he dons the Blue star visor in a couple months.
