Let's just let it play out. Continue to win and the odds work in the Saints favor.

I forget the year, but when we went 8 and 8 and made the playoffs, we didn't need things to happen?

You may be thinking of 2004 where we were 4-8 and ran the table to finish 8-8 but because of a 3 way tie, a team we beat in the regular season went to the playoffs and we didn't.

And the saints looked like they could've made a serious run. Deuce was just carrying them on their back and the defense was actually playing very well

Nope, in 1990 the saints finished 8 - 8 and played the Bears in Chicago in the playoffs

Got it. So 22 years

Like I said this type of chase is exciting but also seizure inducing and rarely works out for us

I remember this. I forgot how the tie breakers fell, but the Saints were rolling and were the team no one wanted to play. I remember Haslett's comment was something to the effect that the League wasn't ready for a three-way tie.

The chase itself-for a wild card, I mean...is this so common in the first place...

so rarely succeeding might reflect the rarity of a real wild card chase..

then again...I don't know how many chases we've had through the years.

As to this year, well, we have the MOJO back..back here..where it belongs

.. and doesn't the ENTIRE nation like to watch the Saints and it's high-powered record-setting offense. They know what we are capable of and, come Sunday, sports fans everywhere will be watching us light up their night.

Under Payton only twice in 07 and 08 though we really never had a prayer in 07. Really a testament to the job hes done that despite this being the scenario in 01, 02 kinda, 03, 04 that this feels foreign to me. 3 straight years 13 wins, 11 wins, 13 wins. Every year under haslett we were a 7-9 - 9-7 team so alot

I was looking at it last night. If the saints win out, they would still need help but not much help. If the saints win out, Seattle will have to play lights out to stay ahead.

Minnesota is in as of now but they have 2 games left against Green Bay and 2 against Chicago. I'm also thinking there's a chance chicago tanks the rest of the way, so there's a couple different ways it could happen. Crazier things have happened. Actually crazier things happen almost every year.

We started 0-4. Just be thankful to think about it.

I would agree if there were only 2 weeks left to play. But the teams we are chasing can easily lose 3 or 4 of the next 6 games.

We need x and x to lose while we have to win. Week to week it's very entertaining but I can't remember a time where this ended with us getting in the playoffs

Updated to say "rarely" instead of "never"

That's just a fancy way of saying that it's hard to make the playoffs after starting 0-4.

As much as I want the Saints to win out and get a wildcard, I'd settle for the Falcons losing out or going one and done again in the playoffs.

I see the Seahawks losing to the 49ers and the Bears if Cutler is even half-arse back. Hopefully they'll drop one more, but their season the rest of the way is cake compared to ours.

we're in this and we have 6 games to go... if the falcons go one and done hopefully it's bc we made them that way.

i wouldn't be shocked to end up at 11-5, the #5 seed, beat the #4 division winner, and play the #1 Falcons where we know we can beat them, while we're playing the better football, in a dome.
