One came hauling arse through the decoys Saturday morning and someone shot it. The immediate reaction from the whole blind was....frick!!!

They eat rice too. That being said we only shoot them when it's really slow. A lot of times we pass on teal for big ducks if the action is good, so spoonies only get shot if it's a big mistake somebody makes. I've never had anyone tell the difference in the pot or on the pit to date.

I hunt in the ricefields and marsh we shoot spoons all the time they taste like any other duck.
Only parasites I have seen in ducks were big ducks not spoons.

If a lot of birds are flying then I'll pass on them early in the morning. If it's a slow hunt then I have no problem shooting spoonies.
