re: John Calipari called Duke out for flopping

He lands as many kids as Coach K and Roy Williams percentage wise, but his degree of difficulty is so much harder because he goes for half of the 5 stars each year and ends up with 4 or 5 of them.
No one's ever done it before.
I figure Wiltjer was his easiest job. Didn't he just call up and commit with no real contact, no visits, and no connections? I think Duke is the only other program that gets guys like that, but other than Redick, none of them are 5-star guys.

I think he went to watch Wiltjer a couple of times. He saw a guy that could be a 4 year guy. I know Cousins set foot on campus for the first time, when he was moving in. He had a hard time at first, because he had no idea the fans were nuts. Said he couldn't go anywhere without a crowd. When he embraced it, he got better.

That said, I agree that he clearly knows there's a certain kind of kid that can handle the fishbowl at Kentucky and the pressure he puts on them.
This gets overlooked. Not every big talent can play here. See Orton. I'll let him keep doing what he's doing and enjoy the wins.

Orton's biggest issue was his Dad. Not quite Alex Legion Momma crazy, but he certainly hurt him more then he helped him.

Forgot about Legion. What a mess. What are his current whereabouts I wonder?

Oh and Keys, I think you have a Final Four quality team when it's said and done. Plumlee is obviously going to be a beast in the paint but you have some great guys like Curry. And I'm really impressed with Sulaimon (sp?).

Yeah, Momma way so cray cray.
And last I heard he was at Florida International a couple seasons ago. And not doing shite. I don't know that he ever went anywhere to play after that. A shame because he had quite a bit of an upside.

Do you guys believe the Billy Clyde stuff about Legion?
Legion is up there with Makhtar Ndiaeye and Jelan Kendrick as the only guys I can think of who played for 3 D-1 programs.
Belle, I hope you're right. I would be pleased with 2 ACC titles and a Sweet 16 with this group, at least for now.

Orton was an APR killer, too. Didn't he just pack up after the Elite 8 and head home? Avery Bradley did the same thing for Texas. Was back in Seattle in April
At least do like Knight and Wall and take your remaining classes.

Which stuff? I ask because I can't even begin to tell you what all I've heard. That drunk bastard was...a drunk bastard.

Oh I think you're definitely capable of more then that. You have the guard game and you have the post presence as well as the experience. Just my opinion.

Yeah he did. His Dad was pissy because he didn't get PT over Cousins.

That he slept with Legion's girlfriend in Lexington.
Insane if true, but one of the most intelligent guys in Duke program history did the same shite when he had his first job in the Big 12, while UNC had the opposite happen between Jeff McInnis and an assistant coach

That may be the first I've heard that one. He loved him some coeds though. That rumor may be up there with Rondo slept with Patrick Spark's girlfriend though. I wouldn't put it past him.
Posted on 11/14/12 at 1:05 am to BluegrassBelle
While shitty on Rondo's part if true, it's a hell of a lot mroe excusable for a 22-year old to do that than a grown man in an authority position, but based on BCG tormenting injured players and making radio producers run suicides and take lay-up drills with the team, he is beyond nuts.
This definitely happened with 2 of the studs on the Villanova team that just blew up in March 2010 though.

wow three major frick ups right there. Ndiaye was a disgrace to every team he wore a uniform for, but I think he was also certifiably insane

kansas does too, but i think like tyrel reed is the best one
watching sportscenter tonight, i was pretty pissed to hear cal say all that shite before the game about how they weren't ready, weren't prepared, weren't good enough to win, etc... Even at halftime, he was pumping how we was glad to be where they were because of blah blah blah they weren't ready. don't get me wrong, it's fricking genius to tell everyone that you expect to lose a game you think you are gonna lose beforehand. take away all the blame before it happens, and if you win then you're a hero. fricking brilliant. i also think it's total bullshite that he gets away with that. such a cop out shitty move.
also, to all the kentucky fans saying not to worry because of improvements, etc... that's true, obviously, and your ceiling is high as shite. the only thing is, the other 3 teams/coaches that played in the champions classic tonight are probably the only 3 teams/coaches in the country that are better than kentucky at improving over the course of a season/reaching their team's ceiling.
