I do not profess to be an expert but this sure is what it looked like from the West Upper.
When I think of a true prevent D, I think of rushing only 3, dropping 8 and having 3 deep safeties. X and O guys: is this correct? Anyway, we are not doing that, but what we are doing is just not working and we are giving up 15 yard routes as if they were 5 yard routes AND we often give up the sideline, too. A real head scratcher when you consider how well the D has played on the whole.

If it is intended to philosophically be a prevent defense, or some hybrid of it, it's not being done correctly when we give up the sidelines that easily and give as big of a cushion as it looks like we are. In that instance, it's just a shitty defense. This is especially so if it's a one possession lead.
ETA: Oh, I see it now. Not a prevent defense or even close, although they were giving all kinds of different looks at the line. Just shitty play by us/good play by Bama.

Right about what? Simon has to play the number 1 receiver every week and has done a great job. You're acting like he's giving up td's and big plays every week.

Of course, I'm not sure how you can expect the players to have a killer instinct to put teams away, when you run a FB dive on 3 and 4 in the fourth quarter on your opponents side of the field. The play calling has gotten much better, however, two weeks in a row now we have played conservative when the opportunity to really throw the knock out punch on offense was presented.
