Yea, all of this complaining about Les and the play calling is all BS to me. If the defense would have done what everyone expects them to do and hold Bama that last drive and we win then no one would be talking about this. reading this board last week, most of our own fans didn't even think we had a chance of beating Bama but there we were right up until the last minute of the game with a lead. Tell me another team who has looked that dominant against them this year... oh yea, there is none! I want to point out that the defense was amazing, but they were too worried about a blown coverage and big play happening that they allowed them to drive down the field when it counted most. I for one think our team played thier hearts out and I know the coaches worked thier butts off to prepare for this game and i'm proud to say I'm an LSU fan.

sometimes they work and sometimes they don't

in 2010, we had the toss dive to Ridley and they Peterson ran the reverse off of it. We also had a fake punt. If they work, you are a genius, if they don't then you are a moron.

Look at Peyton. If the colts get the onside kick in the SB, Saints probably lose. Because it worked he is a genius. Sometimes the ball bounces your way and sometimes it doesn't.

Someone on the rant asked would you trade those close to the vest victories for a few more losses if it gave LSU an opportunity for BCS title every few years?

Wait, wait, wait...Wasn't LSU in the NCG last year with the opportunity for the BCS title? Hell, they were in the hunt this year until saturday night. How in the hell does adding losses get you greater opportunities to play for a national championship.

Fact is LSU and Les Miles play in the SEC. Each week they go up against the best. And more importantly they compete each and every week. Some wins are ugly some losses hurt but Miles has a championship caliber team and will have one for several years to come.

The only reason Miles puts in the effort he does is because he is in the division of the best coach in college football. Take Saban out of the west and he is content just competing for the West every year. The truth is, LSU is never committed to winning a MNC as much as Bama is. It is going to take a collective effort by some of the SEC coaches to do something about Saban and Bama.

This could be the dumbest post I've ever seen on the rant.

For the record I am a Dr. However, I should be a shrink dealing with all the Miles infatuaters here on the Rant. Not going for certain victory is inexcusable. That's how you lose and that's the main reason LSU lost again to Ala. Running up the middle EVERY TIME on the last 2 possessions with the lead tells you all you need to know. It was like the BCS game all over again. Very predictable..... Very bad results. Just saying.... Miles learned a bit of a lesson and improved his GPA against Ala. but he still has work to do to graduate. I just hope I don't have to keep saying "maybe next year" over and over again. It's getting old.

Then you maybe the dumbest Dr ever.
No coach in CFB, NONE, passes the ball on that 3rd &8, with the way our def was playing. Our defense had held them to 40 yards of offense in the ENTIRE 2 nd half. You run the ball and kick a fg making Bama have to score a TD. Period. No coach throws that ball. If Mett throws a pick 6 , then Miles is the laughing stock of CFB for the rest of his career.
Also , yeah all those top 5-10 rankings and 11 win seasons are getting old. You "fans" are so damn entitled , it's sickening.

And had Okie State beaten ISU, bama wouldn't have received another shot at LSU last year. It's funny how things can change with just a few tweaks. Some people just don't get it.

I had to laugh at most of this post, but the comment that CLM is "not one to go for victory when it's staring him in the face " tops the list of insane comments. Wondering if you saw or read bout the Jacob Hester 5 fourth down runs Fla. game just a few yrs ago. CLM could have kicked a FG on at least 4 of those plays, yet he "coached to win the game". The TE reverse against bama, again, ClM playing to win the game. The fake FG bounce pass for a first down instead of kicking a game tying FG happened because CLM played to win the game. The onside kick Sat nite, CLM playing to win the game. etc etc etc etc. "Roll out pass.Probably closest thing to a sure bet": with Mett, nothing is a sure bet, playing his best game of the yr non withstanding. I can promise you Nicky never felt "pretty good" the entire game. Guessing mabe you're an urologist by trade??

That's the bottom line to me.

It's fine to 2nd guess and all, but nothing wrong in running the ball, making Bama use their T/Os, knicking a FG to go up by 6, and making Bama have to go 70 yds or so to win the game in 90 secs.

It's a football sound path to go. I didn't work, but that doesn't make it a poor coaching decision. imo

No, it's your opinion. No more valuable than the janitors.

I admit it has been a recipe for success during his entire tenure at LSU

Yet you come here and spew your BS like you now more than the very coach you just admitted to being successful.

quote:

would you trade those close to the vest victories for a few more losses if it gave LSU an opportunity for BCS title every few years? HELL yes! That

That statement is pure ignorance. A few more losses and you don't play for any championships much less NCs.

quote:

he is not one to go for victory when it's staring him in the face and that's his downfall as a college football coach

Holy crap. Are we talking about the guy that threw it in the Auburn game, ran the same fade route vs Fl twice in a row after faking the FG that would have tied the game ? The guy that wins 80+% of his games ?

the future for LSU has never been brighter

Good to see Miles supporters coming out of the wood work. I am another Miles supporter. Only coach in America I would even consider replacing him with is you know who.... I think 90% of the LSU fan base would have preferred a better effort late in the game to secure victory. That's all this is about. Don't try and read more into it than that. You can bash my opinion all you want but ultimately it's Les Miles making the decisions and if you want insanity to continue then keep backing him up. I won't.
